Does anyone have anything that could maybe help me work on my balance? The other day in the class I take I kept falling over on different moves and I wasn't pretty embarrassed. I would appreciate any help! Thanks! :)

  • keep doing balance exercises. you will eventually strengthen your core muscles and have better balance. We have a "core" class at my gym that focuses on just that. Keep trying, you will get there!

Some people have it naturally and some don't. If you don't, then just keep on practicing at the moves you fall over on until you can do them.

I practice Tai Chi and I have a little balance game I play when I'm just standing around or in line or in an elevator, etc.
I started with just standing on one leg, with the other extended a bit to the side, for about ten seconds and then switch legs. When that was easy I practiced with the leg extended farther, or to the front or behind in a figure four.
Finally I practice, leg extended, to bend at the waist first front and then sides and back.
I particularly like to do these balance games in a moving elevator, to add challenge. I also often go through the balance routine while cooking.

When I was pregnant my trainer would make me stand on a bosu ball with one foot. Try keeping your balance for a minute or so and then switch to the other foot. He would always be there to catch me if I needed him to. Now when I do it I get close enough to the wall that I can catch myself if I start to fall. It looks silly but I really think it helps.

    Yoga, yoga, yoga.
  • Yoga and Pilates are good for balance.
