I lost 15 pounds since Saturday, I'm concerned?

I just starting dieting last Saturday & have only been eating around 1,800 calories a day w/ hardly any exercise right now. I was 255 pounds, & now I'm 240 this morning. I'm 5'11 & 21 years old. I know the 1st week you're suppose to lose quit a bit, especially if you're obese, but I'm wondering if I'm eating too little starting out, which is causing me to lose so much weight so fast? However, if I wasn't eating enough, wouldn't my body NOT be losing weight & be in starvation mode? I was eating probably double what I should be... Thanks for any help!

You only started on Saturday. Most likely you had a lot of water retention. It is not unusual to lose a lot the first week, and then gain a little back the second.
Your calories seem fine. Starvation mode doesn't kick in with a five day moderate deficit like you are using. Relax and keep doing what you are doing. You are more than likely fine.0 -
