I hit a wall today

...in physical therapy.

It's been incredibly difficult. I go twice a week for a torn hamstring, and it's always very painful. Every time, the therapist finds new places with scar tissue, muscle atrophy, and tissue damage.

When I try to do the exercises, I can't maintain correct form in any of them. My mechanics are so jacked up by years of overuse and injury that I can't even do what I need to do to correct the problem. I go to the gym, and I know my form is off, and I feel like I'm just doing more harm than good.

After today's session, I broke down and cried. I have cervical disc herniations and my neck pain is flaring up. I'm so deep in PT for my hamstring that I don't have the time to even address the neck pain. I'm so worn out and frustrated.

I don't know what to do...

I am so sorry sweetheart. You will get through this. I previously tore both ACLs and the calf muscle in my right leg. It took about a year to completely recover, but after a couple small surgeries and PT it got better. I still have a little trouble with the left leg, but nothing compared to what it was. *hugs*

sorry to hear about your persistent pain and suffering. the only thing i can think of is focus more on your MFP and food consumption and not worry about exercise other than your PT. I had to do this when i hurt my knee for a year and a half.. i never went to the doctor so i dont knwo what was wrong with it. but it healed after about a year and a half. hope this helps.

I'd like to focus less on my exercise, but I have to do as part of my PT. It's my homework :(

the pain is so bad that I cannot focus on my work...I had to take the rest of the day off after PT

I know my flare up will die down, but it's just so tough dealing with this. I don't respond well to pain medication either. I'm still hanging in there, but the amount of treatment and maintenance I need just to get through the day is almost excessive. Financially, it's also a really big commitment.

Any ideas about how I can get the most out of my time & money with regards to pain management?
