Hello,
I just now joined MFP.... just in a nutshell how does this work? Just track what you eat and excercise?
I'm 42, mom of 3, my oldest son is getting married in 30days. I would like to wear the outfit I've chosen alil better than it looks now. But my overall goal is to be healthy and happy with myself. I've not always been that. For a woman of my age I am blessed that I can say I have no health issues, aside from the effects of being "out of shape".
I am totally excited and motivated to get started, any pointers???
Thank you!

Hi Ranchetta,
I'm 35 and over the past 6 years I have gained about 25-30 pounds, a few pounds a year just added up until I decided 8 days ago that enough was enough. I downloaded this app to my iPhone a long time ago, and I wanted to start counting calories but I was surprised that when I went to use this program that it asked you a few questions such as my age, height, current weight, activity level and how much I'd like to lose per week; then told me exactly how many calories I needed to eat each day to get to my goal. That was the missing piece of the puzzle for me. I could never figure out how many calories I was really needing to eat in order to lose weight. Since I always have my phone on me, it has been so easy to make sure I log everything in everyday. I love it! I weighed myself a few days ago and already lost 5 lbs. I eat mostly healthly but I don't eat things I don't like just because they are good for me. Another thing that I like about this program is that it deducts the calories from your daily allowance anytime that you log in a food, so you know at a glance how many calories you have left for the day. I just can't say enough about it- it's great.0 -
Log on every day & track your food & exercise. Be honest with your self & track every little bite. In the past I had great success loosing weight by keeping a food journal, I just jotted it down in a tablet. So I thought the MFP diary was fantastic!!! Origianlly I didn't bother adding friends or participate in any of the posts, but I slowly started to add friends & now I find the support of friends is what keeps me logging on every day. I love this site. Good luck!!!0

This site and app have been the best thing ever for me... as well as the motivation I get from people who are going through the same trials and tests that I am. It's been awesome having this support system. Feel free to add me if you'd like!0

I think the first thing you will notice is that - the things you eat have more calories and fat in it then you thought.
As you see what you eat, you should make better choices. If it touches your lips log it!
Drink lots of water, and exercise - even it is walking 3/4 times a week!!
Enjoy!0
