Who here's gluten free?

So, short story -- I'm having some stomach trouble and my doctor wants me to try out a gluten-free lifestyle for a couple weeks to see if it helps. Anyone gluten-free? If so...what does your menu look like for a day? Open to all suggestions!!

    I am grain free. I eat a veggie omlette in the morning, a big salad with chicken or salmon at lunch and meat/veg for dinner. I will have squash or potatoes occasionally. No processed food - cookies, fake gluten free "bread"or "pasta".

    Gluten-Free for 4 weeks.
    I was gaining weight for no reason and was having a handful of other health problems for the last 5 years. Once I replaced all o fmy gluten products out of my house (about $100 generously) making gluten-free is effortless. It's just real hard when you eat out. Awesomely a lot of my friends and family have been real supportive and have been to hook me up with gluten-free goodies and basics!

    I use Evernote to keep notes on things I need to look for when I go the grocery store. I save all of my notes online and then look it up on my iPhone.

  • I've been gluten-free (and free of several other allergens) for over a year now. I don't really substitute gluten-free products for gluten-containing ones. I just eat things that are naturally gluten free - lots of veggies, fruit, meat, seafood and nuts. In addition to not eating gluten, I can't have dairy, eggs, soy, yeast, most other grains and a few other things, so my diet is simple, but yummy and healthy!

    I'm totally/strictly gluten free, I'm even in the process of starting an online gf bakery, I do a lot of GF baking, my first suggestion is never eat store bought GF bread, make it at home, from a variety of flours, not from a mix. I'd also suggest you join the GF group: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/129-gluten-free if you have any questions feel free to ask me, I have a variety of gf bread recipes on my MFP blog.

    Going GF isn't as hard as you would expect, GF food is still delicious, avoid the processed GF food, eat naturally gluten free thing for the first month or so of being GF.

    Rozzberry - what are you eating? I lost weight in the first two weeks and now I am stalled again. I can't figure out why! Too much sugar and/or carbs?? I need to increase my veggies, but I am picking and don't like a lot of them, so I'm trying to learn new ways to cook them and make them tasty. :) I have an intolerance to broccoli and cauliflower, so those are out.

  • I'm considering going gluten free for a while to see if it will help a whole host of health issues I've been having. Can anyone suggest any good reading material for someone looking to make the switch?

    My wife has recently tested positive for extreme gluten intolerance/sensitivity. Our son also has some pretty bad eczema under one eye that has been fading since taking him off of wheat (only a few days now), and since gluten sensitivity is hereditary we're pretty sure that he is too.

    We basically eat low carb and grain free anyway, and cutting out the last of the gluten (low carb tortillas and such) hasn't been all that difficult.

    I had major tummy issue I have been gluten free since Jan 27th and I feel so much better. IT is a whole lifestyle change but so far so good. I eat alot of fresh vegis, and fish. The one thing that I was suprised is what all Gluten is in. Even your meats have gluten if they have been injected with a thickner. :noway:
