Make a 3.5 pound difference this morning? I know way TOO MUCH sodium. Lots of water today. Needed the comfort and I gave in. Yesterday was not a good food day or a good work day. Under some stress.

Yes, I believe so. I gained 2 pounds over a weekend (it came right off) and I've heard of people gaining more. Drink plenty of water and give it a few days. Sorry about your bad day.0

Oh yea
Unless you ate 12250 calories over your maintenance, it's not fat0 -
Most definitely. Drink lots of water and exercise, and check again in the morning. I bet you'll see a big a difference in the number on the scale.0

Full Moon! Get's me everytime.0

If you don't normally eat sodium and that's WAY over what you do usually eat then yes - you are retaining water.
Unless you have a medical reason, avoiding sodium is a scam. You will drop water weight quickly when you cut it out, and the moment you introduce it again you will have bloating and "gain". On the other hand, if it's a normal part of your diet you will have far fewer fluctuations - especially after cheat days. If you're interested in cutting FAT then your sodium intake is hardly relevant.0 -
Heck yes it would!
Every single time I eat mexican or chinese food the scale tells me I gain 7-8 lbs, without fail.
Just drink lots of water and your kidneys will flush it out0 -
Oh, definitely.0

I weighed 3 lbs different between Mon am and Tues am. Had a company dinner at a Japanese steak house on Monday!
By today, I am one pound down from Sunday.
So I'm sure it's water.0 -
It sure will.
Drink lots of water the next couple days and keep your sodium down and you should lose that pretty quick.0 -
Not to sidetrack this conversation too much, but if you're in "reasonable" shape, have a "reasonable" body fat %... would you be able to see the water weight in the mirror? Could it affect how clothes fit?
I get that sodium + dehydration causes water retention, just not sure what that equates to other than a higher number on the scale.0 -

Usually a bloated belly and sometimes fat fingers.0 -
It certainly can. Don't worry about it as it's water weight and not fat. Give it a few days; it'll be back off.0

Last weekend was a sodium heavy weekend for me. Upon weighing myself on Monday morning, I'd gained four lbs. By Wednesday morning, I'd lost it all. Just watch your sodium, drink plenty of water, and work up a a good sweat.0

Lots of water next few days, it'll come off. You didn't eat enough calories to actually gain any fat. The worst part of it is the bloated feeling!0

It's usually a combination of carbs and sodium together.0
