Hello, I was wondering if we could start a little thread with tips we could give each other.

I would like to start off with a big problem I had but it has disappeared. I used to suffer from extreme bloating, so I bought root ginger, chopped off thick slice bashed it with my tenderiser, added hot water and a teaspoon of manuka honey and drank it whenever I felt bloated. If you don't like ginger, try getting used to it by starting with a small piece and gradually build it up (it's what I did and now I like it thick lol)

Apparently it is easy to grow your own ginger but here in U.K ginger is about 30p for a big root.

I have loads of tips from my mother passed down from my grand mother even, I bet you all do too so if you have a tip could you post it here please? Many thanks,

Helen :flowerforyou:

HI amdavies, thank you for your tip but did you know that the magnesium and copper content of bananas can help you get a better night's sleep? I do love a banana, have been known to eat two a day

    Hi Helen,

Im from Glasgow. Your tip sounds really interesting and i will try it. I used to get really bloated too. I found that cutting out bread completely has helped no end. Now i have oat cakes and crackerbread instead.

This sounds interesting. I constantly complain of bloating. Although, since joining this site and watching my sodium intake, it has gotten better. I should try growing ginger. What is manuka honey? Could you just use regular honey?

Hello Pamela, I couldn't give up bread... I treat myself once a week to a white roll or two but the rest of the week I have Burgen bread linseed and soya or the cranberry one, I don't get any bloated with that bread at all. It is delicious toasted and it's recommended on diets.
