Pedometers?

I'm a waitress and am usually on my feet three or four nights a week for five to seven hours. I'm really interested in counting my steps when I'm at work - I do so much walking! For anyone out there who has a pedometer, can you suggest a good brand for me?

Ideally I'd like one that:
- I can buy in Canada (or one that I can buy online that ships to Canada!)
- Is discreet (I wear all black and don't have any pockets, but I do have an apron that rests against my hips & thighs. One that can either sit in the pocket of my apron, or one that is black, small, and can clip onto the waist of my pants, would be ideal.)
- Is accurate (Don't you lie to me, pedometer! :P)
- Has a decent battery life
- Doesn't cost more than $40.00

Anyone have any suggestions for me? :D Thanks!

    EBAY!!!!
  • The weight watcher's one on Amazon (or Ebay---never checked there) has one for about 25 bucks. It's gray, but you can clip it to your shoe, pants, wherever. It resets itself at midnight, and stores information for up to seven days.

I heard it's difficult to put a pedometer in prison because the other inmates try to kill them...

Just got one at Five Below for $5.00 US. I'm on my feet and walking at work 10 hours a day, I figure that counts for something . Best of luck with your program.

Ooh, I do like the sound of that one. The only problem is that it resets at midnight - sometimes I work until one am /o\

mine was a bit pricier but it can go anywhere on your body and you can link it with a usb cable and down load the data to your computer
    http://www.amazon.ca/Omron-HJ-720ITC-Version-Pocket-pedometer/dp/B000MN92WM/ref=pd_sim_sbs_k_5/177-9068843-8861419
for work I tuck mine into my bra
if yu input your weight and height etc it gives you steps aerobic steps cals distance and it resets at midnight to zero
it has been the best investment I have made

I have the weight watchers one too. I've had two different versions of it. You just buy their magazine and there is an order form in the back of it somewhere. I expect there is in the Canadian WW magazine anyway, cos there is in ours.

As for accuracy, I've found it to be the best, and I've had more than WW pedometers, but don't expect them to be accurate step for step. It's more like an average over a distance. But there is an instruction booklet detailing how to get it as accurate as you possibly can, and also don't wear it in the car because it will count every bump and turn as a step.. lol

LOL that's good to know, thank you. Is there any way to get it to NOT reset at midnight?

I just bought a cheap one and it works. I thought I was walking the 10,000 steps a day that are recommended because I am on my feet so much of the day--- boy was off! I'd start with the cheap one and if you keep faithful to it, THEN go for a better one. At least you won't feel like you wasted your money if you decide it gets in the way at work!

Great idea! I'm going to WalMart tomorrow so I'll see what they have there. :)
