hey all!! i just signed up for the warrior dash in may. i know i've got some time but i'm nervous. this is the first race i've EVER been in. i looked at the website and decided i'd like to do the "casual warrior" training program (the one in the middle) and i realize i don't know what half the stuff is, what the numbers mean, and how to do some of the exercises. i'm trying to avoid getting a personal trainer but it almost seems inevitable if i'm gonna do this right and safely. anyone else out there training (or has trained) for a race similar to this? how do you suggest preparing? follow a plan or do your own thing?

Hello! I'm doing the dash in the UK too. First race (so far) I'll have done - but I'm hoping to do a couple of 5k's first.

I looked on Youtube for the exercises as half of them I haven't done either - but I have so far only tried them half heartedly a couple of times ;-) I'm thinking I may have to pay for a trainer at least a couple of times to keep me answerable - I love the running but to be frank, I can't be a*sed with strength training!

Re the numbers, what do they say - might be helpful to post up so that others may be able to advise - I looked at Virgin Warrior and as I say, haven't bothered much beyond squats, lunges and bookmarking the links!

I ran the Warrior Dash last month in Texas. I would do some trail running or hills to get ready. The rest you really shouldn't have to worry too much about.
