I know you are not a diabetic, but this site has pictures of how you can portion a healthy balance of proteins, carbs, fats, etc. Once you open it scroll down to the pictures that show what a healthy portion of each food group looks like. This might help you balance your diet better.

Try to get .7g - 1g of protein per lb. of body weight. If you have a higher percent of body fat, go with a bit less as you're aiming for 1g per pound of lean body mass. If you are keeping within your calorie goals you really can't get 'too much' protein.0

Visuals are good, but you can get a food scale with a tare feature at Walmart that is perfectly sufficient for around $15. I would get one sooner rather than later....they are invaluable! I use mine 5-6 times per day and it only takes a second.0

What is better digital or regular scale?0

That site is still endorsing the old-school (and now debunked) food pyramid. I'm sure it's just an old web page/site that needs updating.0

I realize the site is for people with diabetes. What I was trying to show was what an average portion size looks like using the pictures there. It is not a site for everyone, but basically, a diabetic diet is a healthy way to eat, properly adjusted for each person's weight, height, and activity level.0
