When I was at my highest weight (junior high-early highschool) I tried all the fad diets xD Low carb i thought was the only way to lose weight. Or I thought if I only ate salad for 2 weeks all would be good. Before I knew anything at all about nutrition xD
I have been on mfp for a total of a year now. Only lost 15 pounds.. but my body composition has completely changed. I also took many breaks for my numerous vacations tho xD WIll be on here for a very long time I have a feeling. Good tool to track bulking/cutting cycles. Never ending for me0 -

i dont know why it did it twice lol0 -
Once. Do it right and once is all it takes.
eta: even back when I was fat and didn't really care about it, I always claimed, "I'll never do a diet", and the reason is that everyone that I've ever observed trying to follow a diet eventually went back to their old ways and old weight....0 -
I've been trying for over ten years to lose some weight.
I now, since 2nd november on MFP, I've already lost 1,5 kg (over 3 pounds). I'm glad with the results and I hope to be fit within 1 year. I'm not in a hurry.0 -
I tried 3 times since finding this site and I've been on here for 105 days and it's the first time I've EVER stuck at anything so long!

I have tried to lose weight more times than I can count over the course of my life... I'm 48 so I don't really want to guess at numbers. Needless to say, that regardless of what I thought at the time, I clearly wasn't all that serious or prepared to do what was necessary to lose weight.
I've been with mfp seven months now. My progress is slow, but it's all going in the right direction.0 -
I have yo yo dieted since my mid 20's I am 55 now. Started losing again in March this year and lost 10 pounds before joining MFP in August and have now lost a further 11 pounds so 21 down all together. MFP is an awsome tool to keep you on track and teach you to eat healthily, so many tips and hint and fantastic support, so I am hoping to lose a lot more weight as I continue on my journey.0

There is no need to point out her mistakes.0 -
MFP gave me awareness. It's what I did with that information, the dedication and commitment which led to the weight loss.0

For me it wasn't quite so measurable as "how many times". When I was younger, I remember my brother was on a diet and it was the first time the concepts of 'healthy eating' and 'diet' really occured to me. By the middle of high school I was about 20-25 lbs over weight but I didnt really ever try to do anything about it but workout for years (Curves, magazine workout programs, etc). Somewhere in the middle of college I started making a conscious effort to make better food choices, but it always sputtered when confronted with a chance to go out or an easy food option. Recently it was the combo of access to MFP and living on my own that really 'clicked'.
So maybe 1-2x a year for the last 8-10 years you could say I "tried" to lose weight. But it's been a constant effort to really find what worked for me- I never realized how much knowledge was necessary to really do right by my body.
Edit to add: I started in August 2010 and hit my goal weight over this last summer. Slow and steady- about 4-6lbs/month. I've been on maintence since about July.0 -

SO this. ^^0 -
I had this issue once before - again, after an accident.
I just lost the weight and did well until ANOTHER ACCIDENT!
Then I gained all the weight back plus an additional 19lbs - looked like a rooting hog.
Anyway, I have lost 63lbs - feel great - have 14 more to go - LIFE IS WONDERFUL less the fat.0 -
I originally got on the weight loss bandwagon when I was 13 I think? I was in the eighth grade, anyway. I had started getting fat in the third grade, and by the fifth I was about 150lbs. Bear in mind, I was 10 and weighed that much, and I've never been very tall. In the eighth grade, I decide to try and lose some weight. I drank almost nothing but soda, so I completely switched over to drinking only water, stopped going back for seconds at dinner, and opted for grilled food instead of fried when eating out. In about five months, I got down to about 130bs. I fell off the bandwagon and I've been trying to get back on ever since. I'm 22 now, and I've been hovering between 130 and 140 since.
At the beginning of the year, a friend of mine introduced me to MFP, and he had lost a good 40lbs. I had resolved to try and lose weight before I graduated college, so I gave it a shot. I did manage to lose about five pounds the spring semester of college, but then I left for my summer internship, and went back up to 140, maybe a pound of two higher. I had little to no control over my diet there, since most of our meals were provided and not eating them wasn't an option. There was no kitchen, so on days meals weren't provided, eating out was basically the only option.
The summer was ended and I moved out to California. I had resolved to finally lose the weight, so I started eating better once I moved out here in September (or rather, I stopped having a diet consisting of taco salad and brownies) and in October I started working out six days a week because my internship ended up having a lot of down time. I blog about my journey on tumblr, and keep using MFP to track. I've gone from about 140 (maybe a wee bit higher) down to 126, which is my lowest adult weight in my entire life. My goal is between 115 and 120, and I'm hoping in the next three months I can be in a place where I'm happy with my body and can maintain it.0 -

She was just pointing it out nicely :]
Many people skip over posts with spelling errors so she was only helping :flowerforyou:0 -
No other time before MFP, but one other time since having MFP. So this is my second and last time "trying" it. It's been about 10 months now.0
