Want to actually SEE how much sugar is in all the garbage we shouldn't be eating and drinking, and in some of the good stuff we should? Check out the new sugar stacker website. It's www.sugarstacks.com. This takes it to a whole new level. It's one thing to read it on a label but to see the cubes of sugar stacked next to the item is scary!

I've used displays like this for school age groups in the past but they are limited and this is something every parent and person has access to. Pass it along!

Crap! I just finished looking at the entire site and they actually "kind of" promote cool whip on your apple pie, pointing out how much less sugar is in it than vanilla ice cream.

Still, it's a great site to share with kids. Let them see how much sugar is in some of the things they ask for and remind them that they don't like the dentist, lol.

They're probably ONLY concerned with sugar content - not overall health of a product. Still, the real stuff would be even better :drinker:

I'm going to go check this out now. Thanks for posting the link!

It's healthier of course but still is high in sugar and should be treated as such. Someone wanting to be healthy shouldn't have 8 servings of fruit and 1 serving of vegetables per day.

Eating fruit all day is better than eating processed foods but smoking half a pack of cigarettes a day is also better than smoking a full pack...there's a big difference between actual healthy choices and choices that are healthier than something else.

    Very well said!!!

Eating too much fruit will raise your triglycerides and that is what puts you at risk for stroke and heart attack. This is true, especially for diabetics.

Thanks for this info with this sugar site. I'm new to "my fitness pal", and I'm impressed so far.
I like how I can track my intake of various nutrients, and am shocked in the past two days how much sugar I consume. This is a good learning process, a real eye opener :noway:

QUITE different than the point system with WW.
I never really felt with WW that it told the whole story with what I ate.

What a timing to read this topic.. I just clicked to see how much sugar I was having (in my food diary on here), and.. it was scary! I'm having so much more sugar than I should. I'm ok with cals, lacking a bit of protein and carbs (but lacking carbs is not a big deal really..) and fat, and getting too much of calcium (which is a good thing to my bones  ) and SUGAR! I drink about 3 glasses of milk everyday and that makes about 30 g sugar.. so with that, it's always over the limit.. Milk is healthy, good for the bones and pretty good on getting protein so I'm not going to stop drinking it.. umh, any suggestions?

Oh, and also fruits make my sugar levels go up, up, up.. bananas and apples are my favorites :ohwell:

My advice would be to really research the different types of sugars that are putting you "over".

Again, big difference between those forms that naturally occur in dairy and fruits and refined sugars.

Once you have all the information, decide how much, if any, refined sugar to allow yourself in addition to the naturally occuring sugars.
