Hey mfp'ers.
I was wondering what you guys are doing in regard to maintaining calories this holiday season. I don't know about you guys but whenever it's a holiday, my family goes all out on food and desserts; especially ones only made during special occasions that I can't resist. Any tips or advice?

Hi,
While I am basically in "maintenance" mode, I'm going to enjoy the holiday.....and remember that it is once a year, and that the following day, it's back to walking and eating more healthily. My daughter will be home from college for two weeks, so the entire vacation (I'm a teacher) will mean I may gain some weight for two weeks. I'll try to eat as well as I can, and plan to get on the treadmill daily. As long as I don't go overboard, I'm planning to enjoy the holidays this year.

I am having "off the diet days" though not pigging out on Christmas Day, boxing day, new years eve and new years day, but for the rest of the time it is stick to the diet day and doing some exercise either at the gym when it is open or going out for a walk.
I feel that one of the reasons I am overweight is that I use any excuse to celebrate with food and ther eis always an excuse! I think as a society we have gotten into the habit of eating until we are stuffed and not listening to our bodies. I don't believe that any weight loss should involve denying everything you like (unless there is a life threatening reason for it) so allow your self to enjoy nice food but in moderation and try and get some exercise even if it is going out for a walk for an hour each day you have the time to do so, Don't allow the festive season to sabotage your good work but at the sme time allow yourself some leeway. Have a good Christmas!0 -
