3- Did not cut anything out- I ate everything I use to just made sure I was within my cals. Log EVERYTHING.
2- I eat a fruit with breakfast and lunch and veggies with dinner- thats my minimum fruit and veggie intake. plus 8+ glasses of water a day.
1- I tried something that people said "I could never do." - for me it was run. When I first started I could not run a 1/2 mile. I have since run a 10k.(not officially in a race- but I have ran it before). In a race 4 miles was the farthest. Shocked many people!0 -
1. Eat at home
2. Replace all the junk food with fruits and veggies and replace all the drinks with water
3. WALK.RUN.LIFT.HIKE.SWIM.BIKE.YOGA.PILATES0 -
1. Log everything and anything on MFP
2. Exercise 5-6 times per week
3. Forgive myself and immediately start over if I don't do steps 1 or 2.0 -
Its so easy once u get into the habit... its the little things u need to change. Nothing major needs to be done... I lost 20 pounds in less than 3 months... hit a plateau for a few months, stress more than anything, but have lost 7 more pounds in 2 weeks... Eat breakfast EVERY DAY, thats my hardest thing in the world to do... and no its not a piece of toast and a glass of water, i have 2 pieces of bacon, an egg, cheese toast or make it a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwhich.... 100% whole grain/wheat EVERYTHING rice, pasta, bread, yes i eat all that too... snack, snack, snack... i eat every 2 to 3 hrs so i end up having 5 meals a day... yogurt, fruit, cheese stick and pepperonis whatever i find that makes a quick snack... dont worry about counting calories per say just eat moderately if u see that something is 100 calories for a cup, eyeball a cup and move on to the next thing... it helps to write things down in the beginning so u can see where your problem areas are. dinner for lunch and lunch for dinner... i cook dinner like normal but i dont eat it, i pack it for my lunch the next day and have a light dinner, what i would have had for lunch... your lunch should be your biggest meal of the day, that is the time to have your fats for the day (pasta, cheese, whatever u feel fit to eat)... make sure your food is balanced... grains are your friend, dont fall into the low carb trend, overall its not healthy, just make sure its 100% whole grain/whole wheat... and not it really doesnt taste bad either... when u do eat dairy make sure its low fat (sour cream , cheese, milk) if u have a hard time getting to 1% or skim milk, start with the type of milk u normally drink, do 8 oz glass a day, every day til the gallon is gone, then buy the next step down and do the same until u get to the milk you want (ie whole, 2%, 1%, 0%/skim milk)... water, water, water... drink plenty of water, keep a bottle with you all day everyday and just sip on it, slowly you'll start drinking more and more... for any questions or support just send me a message, I'll help with anything i can... fyi, i havent done one exercise yet... loosing weight shouldnt be hard or uncomfortable, you do what you can, when you can and if you need to loose 20 pounds before you start to exercise then do so... never think you have to kill yourself to be healthy, it defeats the whole purpose of getting healthy0

The fact that you have fibro, made me answer this post. I have been there, done that and am out of the other side! it took me about 7 years altogether from the start of being poorly to dealing with it and finding my way back to 'normality'. I could do a 1-2-3 of what I do now but I no longer suffer from Fibromyalgia , so here's what I did when I was at the beginning of the journey like you.
1. cut out ALL the junk food! & eat healthy non processed food only, you may find a Fibro trigger in doing this (mine was anything with artificial sweeteners in it!)
2. pace your activities! if you do too much too soon, you will crash n burn, and feel worse the next day! make activity habits, and when you are coping with the pain/tiredness from a base level of activity such as walking, then literally walk to the next lampost!!! bit by bit slowly increasing your activity.
3. Keep hydrated & Relax before bed to let your body get a proper sleep, essential for fibro management. (I know thats 4 but I couldnt prioritise which was more important!)
When you're on the mend start following the advice of everyone else here.
and lastly, take the pressure off yourself for being poorly!! accept your fibro limitations and tackle them bit by bit, then before you know it you'll have beaten it! I know, cos I did x0 -
1. Educate myself on appropriate portions.
2. Commit to a lifestyle change - not a diet.
3. Forgive myself if it doesn't always work according to plan.0 -
Hi I started at 229 and I'm 5'3.5
1. Log food on mfp, eat about 1600 calories on average.
2. Be patient
3. Do whatever activity you can. (I do exercise bike and Jillian michaels DVDs but do what works for you!)0 -
1. Eat as clean as possible (increase raw veggies and fruit). READ LABELS. If there are too many ingredients you don't recognize, put it back.
2. Zumba
3. Log and measure every. single. thing.0
