Hello!

Hello!
My name is Sylvia and I am a food-a-holic! Every time I go on a diet, I gain weight! I've allowed myself to get totally out of hand and my thighs and butt can no longer lie! I have no more sympathy for myself, not asking for help anymore, not talking about it anymore, will just take it one day at a time and practice committment and self control. This is really hard!!!!

Hi Sylvia. I too am a food-a-holic so I feel your pain. I've only been on this journey for a month now, but I have lost about 7lbs and I feel so committed to setting mini goals and taking it one day at a time. Watch what you eat and watch what you think! I am changing my attitude about diet and exercise. Its what I need for my health and my sanity right now and I'm proud of myself more each time I complete a workout. I hope that you will be successful and that you too stay committed. good luck to you!
  • Thanks so much simsimma1210! I appreciate the encouragement and so glad that you are on the right track to losing weight! I hope to get where you are soon!
  • Luck and a whole lot of other stuff is exactly what I need right now! Appreciate the support!

    Hello Sylvia,
As I reading your story, I thought about my own journey. You are correct all we can do is take it one day at a time, and not lose focus. If you need encouragement along the way, and I know I do, add me as a friend.

    Hi there

All I can tell you is that this works! keeping track means getting to know what to avoid - I dont buy anything without checking the cals now! Best wishes for your journey.

MFP has been amazing. I have lost 12 lbs just by logging what I eat and I honestly feel like I am eating more. I treat my calories like its my allowance and am more mindful how I spend them.
  • It does work it is all work your friends will keep you going you keep them going you log what you eat before you know it you are loosing weight and still enjoying food. Did I mention it is all work. YOu can do this though!! good luck on your path!!

here are a few tips that I found to work for me:
    1. Make MFP your home page
    2. Log in EVERYDAY, read the message boards post.. Keep your mind actively thinking about it.
    3. Don't try to change too much at once, Implement 1 change every week or so. Little tweeks over time seem to work best or at least better than but load of change all at once
    4. Always be honest. We al fall on our way to the top, be honest, no one is judging you here... we all support eachother
    5. Keep trying new things until you find what works for you (It took me a while to find my plan and it works great for me but I wouldn't push it on anyone else)
    6. Its easier to lift weights than the burdens of carrying weight.
    7. take it one day at a time.
    8. Have a cheat day or meal, where you eat what you want
    9. Try to talk to yourself as if you are talking to your child or loved one. Often times the thing we need most is to be a better friend to ourselves.
    10. Smile.
