Lighter days?

Hey guys. Happy Monday :P
Do you think it's OK to have one or two days a week where you eat significantly less, 600-800 cals? I read an article posted on here that says it takes 72 hours of your body not getting adequate calories to truly go into the dreaded "starvation mode"... I didn't know if it was actually bad for you to skimp hard one or two days a week though.
Mondays are always a sad scale day for me because I always seem to have gained back the weight from the previous week. I walked twice Saturday on top of shopping-walking, made sure not to over-eat, even chose a grilled chicken salad at the cajun restaurant... but did have some drinks (vodka) and I have a feeling that automatically halts my progress and results in the "Monday morning weight gain" -_-
Just wondering if anyone actually tries to do lighter calorie days like this to "balance out" a bad weekend (even though I didn't think it was that bad... stayed active and ate reasonably even though didn't log.. again, the alcohol, I think, was the killer).
I am still exercising 30-40 minutes 5-6 times a week, and seeing improvements in my running vs walking time and distance... so I know progress is being made, I guess I just get a little antsy :P
Any positive/negative comments welcome, if you actually integrate this into your regular weeks or not, or if you have in the past, what your results have been. Thanks in advance.

It's probably not going to hurt much, but, at least for me, it would make for a miserable existence.
If you didn't log this weekend, you don't know how many calories are needed to "balance it out."0 -
Why go through that?
Give it a try, and let's see the results. Me? I eat around 3000 daily and lose 1 lb each week. 64lbs so far.
I'll take slow and steady these days even though I was eating between 1500 and 1800, losing 4 lbs each week. That was HELL!0 -
I would not deprive myself so much. I could not get through the day on 600-800 calories - not even 1000. How do you focus on anything - I would be starving. I also get low blood sugar, which feels icky, so I have to eat regularly.
If I have a bad weekend or bad day I balance it out with extra exercise and don't eat back all the calories. This works better for me. But i still eat at or around my normal daily allotment regardless.
Good luck.
Don't forget that it is okay for this to be a slow process with a learning curve.0 -

Congratulations on your fantastic drop of 64lbs. You are a hero
I originally started out on 1200 calories and THAT was truly hell. I am on 1400 now and managing fine.
We'll do it together0 -
I stayed at 1200 per day and that worked great for me. I am now in maintain mode eating 1700 per day plus my exercise calories and I'm still losing. I dont need to lose anymore I'm way to skinny in my arms, belly is flabby but everything else is too skinny.0
