I would say no and I think that's the general consensus I've seen in other posts on this topic. Others may disagree but you really need to have a decent amount of water in its purest form to keep hydrated and to cleanse your system.0

Teas and coffee, though made with water, also contain diuretics which deplete water so you are being counterproductive if that is your source of water. I would say that water with flavorungs added do count just be aware if there are added calories or sodium.0

Vitamin water or zero water are good - vitamin water due to the extra nutrients, but just look at the calories etc and work that into your programme

Nope... straight, plain, clean, beautiful water only teas and coffee are a diuretic.. they definitely shouldn't be counted toward your water for the day.0

This is just my two cents, I'm sure there's others that haven't had the same experience, but I really struggled with trying to fit pure water into my daily life. Fact was I just didn't like it. I didn't count anything else as water on my diary, but in my head I gave myself credit for water when I drank diet sodas and such like that, but for the past month or so I've been making it a point to drink as much pure water I can throughout the day. And it seems like the pounds are just falling off. I haven't changed anything else about my diet or exercise program.0

Certainly water would be the best choice, however I have seen that talked about so many times and today I googled it. Mayo clinic and one other and it said that all sources of liquid count as water every day. So what I took from it is, drink as much of your daily amount of liquid in water, but dont try to drink your water requirement plus all off your other sources.0

Water intake has always been a challenge for me....mostly because I am in sales in the car all day and it becomes difficult. I am trying to get more in during the evening....0

ALL OF THE ABOVE
Water is best though - no additives, chemicals or sugar.
I drink green tea and my nightly glass of vino these days over soda and coffee.
It all counts!0 -
This posted twice for some reason...lol0

Stick with water, your kidneys will thank you later!
I don't track the volume I drink, I just try to keep my urine pretty colorless.0 -
8 cups of water can come from various sources: juice/tea/fruit/veggies/ etc... not just pure water

Research measuring water loss has shown that we should drink about 1.2 litres of fluid every day to stop us getting dehydrated. This works out to be about six 200ml or eight 150ml glasses, cups or mugs.
The total amount of water we lose each day and need to replace is in fact greater than this – about 2.5 litres – but we get 1 litre of the fluid we need from food and the body recovers 0.3 litres from chemical reactions in our cells. The rest needs to be taken from drinks. All non-alcoholic drinks count, but water, milk and fruit juices are the healthiest.

Completely wrong i'm afraid. This is an old myth that has been disproved many times.
Here we go again!
You need the equivalent of 8 cups of water a day on average, from any source. These sources can be pure water/tea/coffee/juice/soda/milk/fruit/veg etc. It does NOT have to be pure neat water!

As for coffee being a diuretic, so many people just spout that word as a reason, without actually understanding what "diuretic" means.
di·u·ret·ic (d-rtk)
adj.
Tending to increase the discharge of urine.
n.
A substance or drug that tends to increase the discharge of urine.
Neat water is also a diuretic. The diuretic effect of caffeine is far, far outweighed by the actual water in the tea/coffee. Also, regular consumers of caffeinated beverages will build up a tolerance to said effect, eventually reaching the point where caffeinated drinks provide practically the same amount of hydration as a cup of neat water will.

HMonsterX has it right on the money. The only reason I don't count my coffee towards my 8 glasses is because by the end of the day I want to drink at least 8, and the easiest way is drinking straight water.0
