So I've gone up 3lbs. I posted a complaint about it and got some responses, I guess its probably because my deficit is 200 less than MFP recommended. Some ppl suggested that I try to eat my goal to make sure I don't eat too little. My question is when I workout and burn a lot of calories (like 600) am I supposed to eat an additional 600 calories so that I'm not under?
My recommended is 1380 so when I burn 600 should I be eating 1980? thanks!

Correct. If you goal is 1380 and you exercise and burn 600, then you should eat 1980.
Just make sure your exercise calories are as accurate and possible and enjoy the extra fuel for your body.

Wow really? I use a heart rate monitor so I'm pretty sure its quite accurate. Thanks

Give it a try and see how it goes. Everybody gets different results but even eating those extra cals you will still have a calorie deficit but your body will be getting more good nutrition to give you energy and keep you healthy.
    Good luck!
  • Wow! that is interesting. I read your post and then I read the reply. I have been the same weight for the past 5 weeks and can't even lose an ounce. My recommended is 1380 also and i just got off the treadmill and I burned 830 calories, however, I've only taken in 860 calories today out of 1380 and burned 830, so it looks like I've only taken in 30 calories today. I have over 1300 calories left for the day and there is no way I would eat anything else today. I am not hungry, but yet maybe I should make myself eat more and maybe I could break this weight... i will be following this your post to see what others have to say. Good luck

I have a friend who was about 70lbs over weight, as soon as she started eating more she lost weight. It seems weird but I guess if you don't at least eat ur BMR then your body goes into starvation mode and saves everything.

You will read LOTS of discussion about this on this forum, but the way I look at it is that if I'm asking my body to work harder, then it's going to need more fuel to do that.
I also think that if I can create a moderate calorie deficit by a combination of eating a bit less and exercising more and still lose weight (and keep it off!) then why would I want to deprive myself by cutting calories way back? I know that isn't something I can do for the long term.
