Just want to get anyones opinion on the matter. I have been using this site for about two monthes and I have lost 8 pounds so far. About 3 weeks ago I stopped losing weight. I log pretty much every day and do not go over my calories very often. I havent gained at all and I have lost 2 inches in my waist and hips in the last two weeks. The only difference is I have started jogging about 5 days a week. Do you guys think I am just replacing fat with muscle and that's why I am not losing weight but losing inches?

I'm not really into the excercise thing yet, but from reading previous posts - - do you have to start eating more calories now that you are excercising - - from what I have read - - - -you are using up more calories now - - - so if you don't eat them back - -your body can go into starvation mode and that's when you will stop losing. This is just from what I have been reading on MFP - - - I think I have it right.0

I pretty much eat back my exercise calories. I may only have 100 or so at the highest left that i can eat.0

if you are losing inches i wouldnt complain...or consider it a real plateau just yet. as for gaining muscle, i seriously doubt it as its VERY difficult to gain lean tissue while in a deficit. i would give it a few more weeks.0

A plateau is when you arent losing both weight and inches. If you are losing inches..you arent in a plateau.0

3 weeks is kind of a short time to judge a plateau. I frequently will maintain or fluctuate a few pounds for a few weeks, then after 4 weeks I'll drop like 5 lbs.0

I just broke through my first plateau - started about two months in and lasted about 4-5 weeks, Dropped about 3 lbs this week. Stay the course and good luck!0

I lost about a pound and then plateaued! It really is frustrating.0

there is a good possibility that you are developing muscles. I wouldn't say you're gaining a lot, but you're toning them and strengthening them with the running so it could possibly be because of that. I agree with the above posters, tho -- if you're losing inches, that's what matters most, the number on the scale will catch up eventually. muscle does take up much less room than the equal weight of fat (wording it differently than usual so the sharks dont jump down my throat for saying "muscle weighs more than fat" blah blah blah)
keep at it, girl. You'll see the scale move soon enough. Keep logging, and log EVERYTHING. Even the smallest things could make a difference. (for example, i wanted a cookie last night, it was just one cookie, thought it would be fine to sneak it. got curious, looked it up, it was a 200 CALORIE COOKIE -- so LOG EVERYTHING.)0
