About 3/4 of my list every week is fresh produce. The specifics depend on what meals I'm making that week. And then I have multigrain bread, some cheese, high quality sandwich meat, maybe some pasta, cheese sticks (mainly for my kids), kosher hot dogs (kids), graham crackers (kids), beans, eggs, yogurt, milk, juice, tortillas, sour cream and butter (if I need them). That's about it.
We eat extremely healthy foods now that I've taken over our food budget. I make all our meals from scratch and we have very few snacks. We were doing pretty well before, the new changes are mainly because we have to save money.0 -
Lol... I get a TON of stuff.
Produce is always fruits (oranges lately), cilantro, celery, potatoes, carrots, baby carrots!, romaine lettuce, squash sometimes, onions of all kinds, sliced mushrooms.
Meats I always have precooked sliced chicken for lunch, chicken breasts, steaks, lean ground hamburger, Tilapia, sausages, turkey, ham, pork of all kinds.
Cheese I LOVE preshredded cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt, soy milk, regular milk, half dozen thing of eggs, light string cheese, ricotta cheese for Italian stuff, light sour cream for Mexican dishes, Parmesan cheese, Feta cheese.
As for middle of the store I get boxed cereals (Kashi for myself), a couple cans of chicken broth and beef broth, sliced/diced tomatoes, tomato pasta sauce in a jar, brown rice, whole wheat noodles, Pita bread pockets, whole wheat tortillas, peanut butter, different types of dressings, a couple spices I don't have, coffee I grind myself for French pressing, baking powder, all purpose flour, Worcestershire sauce, olive oil, vinegars, balsamic vinegar, unsalted butter, some type of snack, bottled green tea from Arizona, taco seasoning, canned turkey chili (one can), canned beans (drain when use).
I also will purchase frozen veggies, garlic bread, and breakfast type stuff from the frozen produce isle.
Lol the list goes on and on but I use ALL that stuff and always cook stuff from scratch.0
