Get that camera away from me....

I used to LOVE taking pictures or having my picture taken. But as my self esteem has dropped and my weight gained, I've taken a major notice into the lack of pictures absent in my last 2 years of life. The pictures I do have, I usually hate because I look at how much I've changed (in gaining weight) from my ideal 19 year old self.

Anyone else notice their distaste of picture taking grow?

Aww Jake, we will learn to love ourselves, and get to the point where we will be taking so many freakin' pictures of ourselves because of how awesome we know we look!

Get in front of that camera...

I'm kicking myself up and down for being that way when I was at my worst.

I'd love to have an album of pics of my old self to look back on now that I've hit my goal, but I know how you feel. I never got in front of a camera, I simply could not stand to see how far I had let myself go.

When it came time to do a before and after comparison, I literally had no pictures here of my old self. I had to call family and friends to see if they had anything. Luckily there were a few around, but I wish there were more.

I also wish I had kept a pair of my biggest jeans so I could try them on now LOL

Stick with this, you got this.

However long it takes you, you'll cherish those pics some day, trust me! It's a huge reminder of where you came from and all the incentive in the world to not go back down that road.

    Best of luck to you...

    You got this!

I definitely prefer to take photos rather than have photos taken of me! Maybe in 2012 (if I can myself back on track) I might have the guts to post a profile pic of me!

Wow I hated taking pics when I was 230lbs. I went on a vacation to the grand canyon and I had to pick and choose pictures that I looked very "fat" in. But ever since I lost weight, taking pics is a must for me   .

Hate having my pic taken. Strict rules for the family *no pics* I have to get over this because as a family history buff, I love having pictures of my relatives. It's only fair to leave some of me behind for our future family historian! :ohwell:

Oh, wait, here's me: watching tv  watching politics on tv  having a couple of pints: :drinker: Black Friday shopping

I hear ya! the worst is that I tried filtering through my wedding pictures before posting them on facebook. :( And untagged myself in 'fat' looking bridal shower pictures. You look terrific, hard to believe you were 230 before!

Unfortunately my inlaws are click click clickers and then post post posters on facebook. Even if I untag myself from pictures, they still have them up! It's really difficult too because my sisterinlaw has lost a significant amount of weight and it's great for her, but I got disheartened rather than inspired. BUT, that's why I'm here, to get motivation from others in the same boat, different boat, but same goal!

Exactly. I think deep down I knew that for the past few years I had been gaining weight so I didn't take pictures. I would just hassle my husband to tell me if I looked bigger. And then I started to see other people's pictures of me and BAM, reality check. When I had thought I was the same size (even though I was buying bigger sizes, blaming it on 'bloating' or just had a meal), I really had been thickening up. Worse than that, I lost my muscle definition.

I've noticed that many people I knew in High School post many photos of their children on sites like this/facebook/myspace
but never seem to have photos of themselves.

I'v also noticed many families sending out Christmas Cards, that only have the kids in the photos.

Seeing a photo of yourself is like hearing your voice on an answering machine or voicemail....

Do I really look that bad? Do I really sound like minnie mouse?

I have got much better about having my photo taken recently now I am happier with my weight, but I must admit I still duck out of them at every opportunity. All the photos I have of myself that I actually like are usually a product of poor long suffering other half being instructed... "Nope, I don't like it....take one more..." - which you obviously can't do in a social situation (which is why I avoid them!)

^ Exactly. I was so happy taking pics of myself a few months back but since my undereating issue I have gained so much back I do not want to be in pictures.

I agree! I mean, we all know people are proud of their children and want to show them off, but it does seem strange when they aren't in a single picture. I also have a friend who is very much heavy and for YEARS (well, as long as fbook has been around), his profile picture would be from south park, a football game, a clothing brand, etc. There was never a single picture of him.

I'm probably just as bad sometimes... only face pictures, or posting pictures from a few years back....
