Starbucks question- I'm really confused.

I had a venti mocha frapp with nonfat milk. I asked for light whipped cream but that's not really my issue. If you go to Starbuck's nutrition for the Light Frapp, here, what I ordered comes out to 190 plus half a serving of whipped cream.

But if you go to the regular frappucino and select nonfat milk and no whip, it comes out to 340 calories. I'm not sure where to 150-calorie difference comes from. Does my question make sense?

I'm hoping a Starbucks employee or regular can tell me what to journal.

Edit: oops, maybe this should be in Food. Sorry.

  • i'm under the impression that the regular frapp and the light have a completely different base which leads to such a remarkable calorie difference
  • If you check the carbs.. the regular frap has twice as many as the light version... My guess is the difference in cals comes from a different sweetening agent ... sugar vs slenda, or whatever they use in the frap mix.

Does the servig of whipped cream = 150 calories, I doubt it. The light frapp must be very different from a regular frapp. That's where the calorie difference comes from, I could only imagine.....

  • I work at Starbucks. The light frappuccino is made with nonfat (skim) milk and a base (that thickens and holds it together so it doesn't separate) made with splenda, whereas the regular frappuccino is made with whole (homogenized) milk and a base made with sugar, thus more fat and sugar= more calories.
  • Ah, thanks everyone, I understand. I've been unknowingly consuming Splenda this whole time! Not sure if I like that. Hehe.
