I NEED SOME SERIOUS HELP PEOPLE!!! I HAVE LOST THE WEIGHT THAT MAKES ME HAPPY BUT I CANT SEEM TO GET RID OF THIS PESKY MUFFIN TOP, U KNOW WHAT IM TALKING BOUT, THE FAT THAT HANGS OVER YOUR JEANS LIKE THE TOP A MUFFIN....ANYWAYS I HAVE COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT SUGAR IS MY PROBLEM. SO NO MORE COUNTING CALORIES BUT...IT IS A WHOLE LOT EASIER SAID THEN DONE, I HAD NO IDEA HOW MUCH I LOVE SUGAR, AND...ITS IN EVERYTHING!!!! SO...IF I CAN GET SOME TIPS AND/OR FOODS/RECIPES THAT CAN HELP ME THROUGH THE NEXT 30 DAYS I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT...I AM COUNTING ON ALL U TO HELP ME MUCHO!! THANX...XOXOXOXOXOXOX :sad:

you just need more cardio and maybe less sugar too but just cutting out sugar might not do the trick. add some ab routines too!0

I have the same problem, I haven't lost all my weight but at the rate I'm going I will have to be 2lbs to get rid of the love handles.
BUT really, DO STRENGTH TRAINING(ALL OVER)!!!!! A half hour of intense strength training is about the equivalent to a jog (Type sit ups in your cardio exercise section and you will see). Then, you are burning calories and building muscle, leading to more muscle that will melt the fat away, then over a couple of months, POW no more muffin top, just sexy hip bones, lol. Nah but really. It's called body sculpting. Look it up.0 -
I agree about working your abs, and I'm a fan of whole food eating/ no sugar, but you can also try some area-specific moves. If you're familiar with Turbo Jam, do extra "wheels" - tuck your butt and lean side to side , like you're operating a big "wheel". Take that an extra step and reach to the left, over your head with your right arm for several counts, then alternate with the other side. I've been doing extra wheels at different times during the day when I have a minute (like when I take a restroom break) for a couple weeks now and it's been making quite a difference. Also try some sit ups, adding a side to side move too. Congrats on getting your weight off!0

I think diet soda does play a part in the belly/hips area. I rarely drink it now so we'll see what happens.0 -

Muscle is the key to tapping into your excess fat stores and ridding yourself of extra baggage Sugar is a culprit too. Having many allergies to food, I have gone cold turkey on no added sugar or artificial colorings....it IS in everything....lots of hidden chemicals....but if you can just go a week, you would be AMAZED at how sweet fruit is! It is truly amazing how much we kill our taste buds, until you start cutting out processed foods and eating whole natural foods. Let me know if I can help....just email me!0 -
Thanks everyone! so this is what i have learned that i will implement right away! no more diet soda (that is gonna be tough! good thing summer is here lots of iced tea) ab work which i already do but will focus on obliques...i have that turbo jam but never did it so i will look into that as well-EXTRA WHEELS throughout the day...............i dont know if its possible to do more cardio then i am already doing but maybe i will up the time on my cardio ??? i will also continue focusing on the strength part of my routine to build muscle! Alright, i feel much better!
Any ideas on low sugar recipes/meals???

OK, I realize that people want something to blame for a particular body part issue, but sorry guys, it's not some devil food, or specific lack of exercise that causes this. It's just human physiology.
When humans store extra body fat, they store it first and primarily in 3 places, the belly, the butt, and the hips/thighs.
For adipose fat, there is no targeting for fat removal (short of liposuction), the only way to rid yourself of it is eating less calories then you use throughout the day, if you do this, and eat good, nutritious, and reasonable diet, and exercise, eventually those areas will reduce.
Sugar isn't the cause of belly fat, nor are carbohydrates, nor are saturated fats. It's the EXCESS of those foods that do it too us. Eat too much sugar, too many carbs, or too many saturated fats (among other things) and you gain fat.
Are some foods more prone to be converted to fat? Sure, absolutely, but that's not because their is some magical part of that food, it's because we choose the wrong diet. You can have sugar, you can have carbs, and you can have fat, you just need to eat the right amounts at the right times of the day.0 -
Just a quick comment about my diet soda elimination, for me it was a reaction to the fake sugar in the diet soda that caused a "pooch" on my belly, eliminating the aspartame type sweeteners eliminated the pooch (for me at least).0

well, the easiest way to put it, is that your body can only digest and use a certain amount of calories in any given period, so if you "chow down" and eat a ton of calories all at once, naturally, some of them are going to go to your fat reserves, even if you are staying within your daily calories. And remember, the body doesn't see fat as the easiest form of energy, it sees food as the easiest, and the body is an efficiency engine, it will always use the easiest accessible fuel source available, leaving fat if there is food recently consumed. And because it takes a long time for fat to be converted into energy, you feel lethargic and slow later on because you just can't get the energy to your muscles as quick as you can with food.
As to what times of day are best, well, that's a good question, the most popular technique is to eat 3 medium sized meals a day, about 300 to 600 calories (depending on how many calories you have a day to eat) and 3 snacks evenly spaced between them between 150 and 300 calories.
So say you are allowed 1500 calories a day, a good plan would be
350 calorie breakfast at around 7:00 am
150 calorie snack at around 10:00 am
a 350 calorie lunch at around 12:30 pm
a 150 calorie snack at around 3:00 pm
a 300 calorie dinner (yes, 300 calories) at around 5:30 or 6:00 pm
and a 150 calorie snack at around 8:00 pm
now, that being said, generally we need more energy foods earlier to give us the fuel for the day, and more protein and good fats a little later on to repair our bodies after workouts and to recover the fat soluable vitamins that have been leeched out after a full day. So I usually go complex carb heavy in the morning and maybe lunch, and get your lion's share of protein in the afternoon and evening.
That doesn't mean all carbs in the moring and all protein at night, you should still mix it up, but just favor the one type over another at those times.0 -
That makes sense. Funny how we overthink things, and it is usually simple logic. I wonder how we, as a society have come to have dinner as our most calorie/carb laden meal of the day. I can tell you it will be psychologically difficult for me not to "save up" most my calories for dinner. But everything you said makes perfect sense. Thank you
