Greetings all:

I'm 23, 5'4", 156lbs. I started MFP Dec 5 at 158. My calorie intake per/day suggested by MFP is 1320. Since my start, i was very proud to see instant results with my new healthy eating lifestyle and exercise. I got down to 153. Weighed in this morning...I was back up to 156 -_-. I slacked off a bit on the exercise a bit because of finals week, but I have still been at/under my daily calorie goal. I don't understand this backward step bc i feel better in regards to my health, and even my bf has noticed my stomach has gotten flatter. Can anyone shed some light on my issue. It would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Crys

  • I can not see your diary, but you may be eating a lot of sodium. As a result you may be retaining water. You could also be retaining water from you TOM.

don't sweat the small stuff - it's a long way back to eden! you will probably come across weight fluctuaition more than once over your journey. just stay the course, and most importantly - well, you've already said it. don't let the scale steal your glory. if you are looking and feeling better, trust that over the numbers on the thoughtless heartless mechanical wonder that is the scale! you've got this!

Remember women retain a lot of water... if it IS water just lower your sodium intake for the next few days and check your weight out again. BTW you should start taking your measurements. When I joined a lot of friends here recommended it and it's been awesome. My scale is moving slowly but inches are falling off since I'm lifting weights so my muscles are getting bigger too :)

If you're not eating over your maintenance calories, it's not fat. Your body can fluctuate something like 3-5 lbs just over the course of a normal day, even more than that if you're retaining water.
