Ending my day with too many cals left.

Anyone else having trouble eating enough cals on the days you've execised? I workout an average of about 20-25 mins on the treadmill, which is not a whole lot. If I add 8 mins of Tae bo this really adds on the extra cals for the day. Today, I had 684 left. I'm really trying to make healthier food choices, but as we all know MFP suggest you eat as many cals as you burn . I've read the success stories and would like to have one of my own by next June. Please help!

Yes - me too! (I'm also a newbie here.) I have a drink of Soy Milk at bedtime and that helps use them up. Also I like Atkins bars for a snack as they are low in sugar and have protein and are pretty yummy. I also think that the exercise calories calculated are a bit on the high side. I have a calorie reading on my exercise bike and am going with that as it is a bit lower. I'm not very fit and I don't think my 'effort' is quite up to what a normal person burns.
I'm having great results so far though, I thought it would take longer for my metabolism to adjust to me not starving and binging (even though I didn't think I was, that was what was happening.) So I gained a little in the first week and have been losing steadily this week.0 -
I just looked over a few days of your diary and I have a few tips:
-Add fruit, most days you have none!
A medium banana has 105-110 calories and is a great pre-workout snack for your body.
A fresh orange (85 cals) in the morning is an awesome way to kick off your day with a hit of Vitamin C
An apple (medium, 100 cals) or pear (same as apple) about 15 minutes before lunch and dinner help your digestion and make you more satisfied after the meal.
you don't have your "fat" grams available to see on MFP, but if you are under, then I suggest more nuts on the days you workout... Post-workouts I like to have an ounce of peanuts and I enjoy making bran muffins (about 110 cals) that I can snack on after a workout.
Also, within an hour after working out it is important to get some carbs and protein, AND a simple sugar (like jam or honey) to immediately feed your body so it doesn't start eating your muscle
Hope this info helps!0 -
I had the same question, thanks for clearing this up...!0

Maybe go for an actual breakfast as opposed to the weightloss shake, your choice but you could certainly pick up some extra cals/protien there, or throw in a mid-morning snack...0

Well I haven't paid that much attention to how many I have left....I mainly concentrate on staying within my calorie limit....
I was wondering if anyone out there uses weighted hula hooping for exercise....I was wondering how to calculate that?0 -

I wouldn't loose any weight when I ate the extra calories, I usually try to keep it around 1200 whether I work out or not, everyones different, I couldn't handle the extras lol.0
