Should I go into maintenance?

I was just wondering if I should go into maintenance mode for a week or two. I started out here and MFP set me to 1200 calories a day to lose 2 lbs a week. I then lost the majority of my weight---maybe just water weight....However, I felt irritable and cranky ALL the time so last week I upped my calories to 1440 to lose .5 lbs a week. However, since upping my calories I have stalled and haven't lost a thing.

My question is what should I do? I feel like going back to 1200 calories since I had good results from it. However, I KNOW I will get tired and irritable again with such low calories---and since I only have 11 lbs left to lose I am afraid 1200 calories won't keep working.

I was wondering if I should go into "maintenance" and shock my body from eating more---and then after I can cut my calories again. If I go this route how long should I stay in "maintenance" before I lower my calories again? Then what should I lower my calories to after maintenance? Thanks for any advice...

You should start lifting weights and exercising vs cutting down your calories to where it affects your mood.

I don't think 1 week is enough to know if upping your calories is working. I'd give a couple of weeks at least, possibly more.

"Diet breaks" help to regulate the hormones that go out of wack during a calorie restriction. 2 weeks at maintenance will do you a lot of good, mentally and physically.
