I would be careful listening to Dr Oz. He over complicates things and promotes a lot of bogus information :flowerforyou:0
-
Oh whats one things hes over complicated or promoted bogus information about?0
-
Not saying everything of course, just take what he says with a grain of salt :]
Everyone here was posting thread after thread about the PINK program for instance, very over priced workout video
And just saw a thread about some odd buddy system/no carbs after lunch sort of thing0 -
Also read something crazy like he recommended to eat a slice of bread soaked in oil before a meal for better weight loss or something xD made me laugh. Apparently this slows food passage = not true0

I watch both shows when I can. I find The Dr's to be very informative and Dr. Oz gives his opinion on things and has interesting guests. I have learned much from both shows - still do my own research on different things as going to our own doctor(s) we need to seek other opinions.0

I like the shows still also and you 2 make a very good point0
-
Oh well watch what you like of course
Only pointing out that he can be misleading ^-^ Just a heads up!0 -
If you're referring to whole grain bread dipped in olive oil and balsamic vinegar before a meal, this is not a new thing. Olive oil, while calorie dense, is rich in vitamins E, K, and A as well as polyphenols, squalene, oleocanthol, triterpenes and oleic acid (omega 9), and helps satiate you, therefore you eat less. It is good for your heart, skin, nerves, hair. Olive oil is a healthy fat.0

you don't soak the bread in oil. You use dense, crusty, whole grain bread. Whisk extra virgin olive oil with crushed red pepper, basil, and balsamic vinegar then quickly dip the bread in and take a bite.0

I am aware that olive oil is healthy and what it does thanks. I have it in my diet daily.
Dipped and with bread before each meal = over complicating things
Eating high calorie things before a meal still does not make sense to me.
I add olive oil to things to make sure I hit my fat goal and to get my calories up.0 -
Depending on the subject or guest I will watch the shows. My personal opinion ... The Doctors is better. If you tried to take all the suplements that Dr Oz suggests you would not have room for food! Dr Oz kind of skims over subjects, doesn't get into too much detail, he doesn't answer questions fully, and when you go to his web site for more information, there isn't much there either. The Doctors give a bit more detail and their website gives you more information, or at least enough to give you a direction to research. Both shows are funded by advertising, so both shows will have the "special guest" shows (ie; PINK, 17 day diet etc). I love the shows on the Doctors where they take the questions from the viewers.0

Mediterranean, middle eastern, and Italian diets all incorporate this. It is not a diet fad or over complicating anything. I'm guessing it was simply used as a way to highlight one way other cultures incorporate healthy habits into meals, and it does help satiate someone who is eating a salad or low density meal. I don't watch either show. It just irks me to see a statement like "soaking bread in oil" and your overall tone in your responses to the thread has been pretty rude.0 -

I totally agree. I find Dr. Oz will introduce a topic and then skirt all around the issue without giving any conclusive answers.0 -
I think he had a show about the HCG diet not too long ago. I was surprised that he presented it as a valid weight loss program. After that I started taking him a little less seriously. However, I still enjoy his shows.0

Not me.. I think both of them are a joke. Dr. Oz is a salesman and The Doctors never have good examples with their own patients. I don't trust either one of them.
However, I LOVE the Doctors Radio on XM/Sirius, Channel 81. I love them!! They are real doctors with real stories!0 -
Sometimes I watch the Drs if nothing else is on but I always take whatever they say with a grain of salt. hmm maybe that's why I'm retaining water. . .0

I think shows like that are great for inspiration, but not all that great on information. Don't take anything anyone says as gospel... do you own research and find what works best for you.0

PS: I watch both but I think Dr OZ is more legit0 -
