From WeightWatchers to myfitnesspal

Hi all. It's me. I recently lost 20 pounds on WeightWatchers Online (June 2011-September 2011), tried maintaining and counting points on my own and was dissatisfied with the guessing game it presented. I discovered myfitnesspal through a Facebook friend - she's ballsy and puts her diary out on Facebook for all to see! What a wonderful way to keep yourself in check - plus it's free. I also recently switched to vegetarianism (1+ months) and that made the point-system-guessing-game (read: "magical mathematics") even more difficult. The biggest difference in the switch from point counting to calorie counting is that I have to track all the fruit and veggies I eat! On WeightWatchers fruit and veggies are free, so if you're hungry in the middle of the day you grab an apple - now I have to count that, so it's an adjustment. So I'm here to keep myself in check, hopefully lose just a couple pounds and then continue to use the diary for maintenance. For some reason, I find the process of planning my meals and tracking food to be fun... so I'll be here awhile!

Good luck! I find MFP to be far preferable to WW too. It feels so much more sustainable to me. And like you said, something about tracking and logging seems fun.

I find MFP much easier to stick to. I hope you have the same experience!

I also switched from weight watchers to MFP. The support/friends is greater than anything you can get in a meeting, the price is right and I find it much easier to keep track of what I eat.

    Welcome and best of luck!

    Hi
I am a Lifetime member of WW. I also find this system easier and cheaper. The whole fruits and veggies are free always bothered me. No food is free.

I am a former WW. I was not wild about the new program. I love MFP! I thought going from points to calories was going to be tough but after a week I adjusted. Welcome!

I also did WW once upon a time and was successful, but got tired of guessing at points. I agree that this is so much easier and I am more likely to stick with over the long run.

Weight Watchers is a good program, certainly not radical or faddish like a lot of weight loss schemes. I've been a member off and on for years and had some good success while I was on the program. But lately it hasn't worked for me and I'm not sure why. Plus their mobile app for Droid doesn't work and message board support (I can't do meetings anymore) is practically non-existent. So I started on MFP and have already lost 6 pounds. I still have my Weight Watchers subscription, but I think I'm going to cancel. I live on a fixed income now, so why pay for a weight loss program that isn't working when I can be successful on MFP for free?

I can't say WeightWatchers doesn't work - it does, I lost 20 pounds with it and it taught me how to snack and plan really well and just how to generally be healthy - but like we all seem to agree, the guess work involved + the cost are way less beneficial when there are sites like this one. Anyway, thanks for the warm welcome, all! And GOOD LUCK to you! :)

Hi, my name is Sharon. I'm a Lifetime WW member too, but am currently 102 lbs over my goal weight since the birth of my 2nd child 7 years ago. MFP online tools seem a lot like WW online, but free! I'm hoping just counting calls will be easier than figuring points. Good luck to everyone!

Yes I did WW too. It is a good program but I needed to move on. I have tried it all!!!! And lost this most recent 20# and gained it back about 3 times in the last 6 years.

With MFP I feel different.....like this is it!!!!! I am now about 3 pounds from my thinest in YEARS!!!! I feel like I can lose another 15 or so with no problem!!! The support and accountability here is amazing! What I am doing different this time is really focusing on exercise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am feeling strong and sassy! I love logging in my exercise and getting a pat on the back from my friends!

I love MFP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good Luck Everyone!!!!!!!!!! WE CAN DO THIS
