Does anyone have cheat days?

I don't know if this is a silly question. Just wondering if anyone has cheat days or how I like to called it "treat yo self" day? I know some diet experts say its ok to eat certain foods in moderation and not to deny yourself some of your favorites, what do you guys think about that also?

After having some cheat days here and there...usually every three weeks.. I'm talking about one small pancake and two pieces of toast added to my usual breakfast. Pasta instead of spaghetti squash under sauce plus a roll. Pie and ice cream for dessert...costing a daily total of 2200 -3600 calories. And being up 3lbs because of it each time and taking three weeks to get it off. I decided it's best if I just try to fit those foods into my day and not go over my calories. This means that I'll have pie on the day I have fish and veggies for dinner. A roll with spaghetti squash with sauce, skip the pasta or have pasta and no roll. Toast with breakfast or just a paleo pancake breakfast. Etc.
It works for some people, just not for me. Next time I know I'll be having one of those days like christmas dinner..I"ll make sure to be at a good deficit a few days before and after. Plus be wise with portion sizes.0 -
actually I lost 15pounds eating anything I wanted..I just made sure whatever I ate was not more than 200 pounds...I will eat a small fry at mcdonalds..etc0

I try to have cheat days...but when they roll around, I can't finish my meal and I don't go over by more than 50 calories anyway. LOL0

I usually do, but I try to work out so i burn most of it back off again. A few hundred extra calories here and there wont do you in...a couple thousand on the other hand...is what got us all here in the first place . If there is something I know I am really going to want I try to work it into my daily calories so I don't feel guilty about it!0

I used this for a few weeks and had very slow weight loss, then thanksgiving didn't watch my calories -- I dropped about a pound and a half that week. Since my goal is 1300 calories, I feel like my body is sometimes too close to starvation mode and doesn't lose the weight. So, I have a cheat day once a week, but usually I dont go over my 1800, so no weight gain, but no loss either. and It works really well!0

I don't- I cheat enough without trying...though I have rest days from hardcore workouts:)0

I don't really have planned cheat days or cheat meals...but I don't deny myself if there is something I really want to have.0

I haven't felt like I've needed them to be honest. That is why MFP works so well for me. I do go over occasionally by a couple hundred calories, but that's still a deficit.0

I may have a day that I end up going WAY over on calories but get right back on track the next day. It's okay to do that once in a while.0

Haha yeah that's my thing. I had a cheat day this week since I was feeling a bit down and than wanted to go running but had to look after my niece. Usually she falls asleep at a decent time so I can go running. I was mad that I couldn't go run since I had a bad day.0 -
I had a cheat day last Saturday. My kids had 2 birthday parties to attend on the same (they're too little to go without a parent). Who can say no to cake and chips?!? I've been known to have a cookie every now and again, but I work it into my daily calorie allowance.0

If I really want something I work it into my daily allowance. That being said I have one or two cheat meals a week where I eat any and everything I want. It hasn't hurt my weight loss and it keeps me sane.0

A cheat day/weekend is a must for me when I was dropping pounds.
It jolts the metabolism and reminds you how awesome healthy eating is!
I still have them now even on a Lean Mass Phase!
Saturday night meal???
1000calories of Greek Gyro with fries please!
I know tomorrow my metabolism will be higher and i'll burn it off in no time.
Now on a daily basis I do enjoy a snack or 2.
My healthy suggestion?
Fig Newton Thins!
140 calories for 3 and they are good for you!
Yum!0 -
Only been going a month but I haven't had cheat days. I do, however, eat whatever I want so no need for them - check out my food diary, I just limit my calorie intake to about 1600 - 1900 a day and cycle some off. It has worked for me so far - 15 pounds lost in a month but not sure when it's going to stop!0

I refuse to give up my favorite foods or entire food groups. I've done that in the past when I was on a "diet" - this time it is a lifestyle change and I'm so much happier. I've lost 35lbs eating whatever I want in moderation.0 -

I don't have cheat meals or cheat days. I eat what I want, when I want it - I simply do it in moderation. For me, having a "cheat meal" or a "cheat day" is too much like I'm on a diet. This is a lifestyle change to me and if I want a Reese's peanut butter cup - I want it NOW, not in a week or whatever. I make sure I account for it in my calories for the day, I log it and move on.

If I didn't have a cheat day or cheat weekend lol, I'd never be able to stick to eating healthy throughout the week. I'm fine with slower weight loss, I want to enjoy my unhealthy indulgences. :laugh:0

I don't have cheat days but I do have cheat things each day lol. I try to stick with the South Beach plan 85% of the time and then the other 15% or so I just eat what I want...that's why I count calories along with south beach - because then I know that overall I'm still in my calorie plan. It works really well for me to do it that way and when I stick with it I DO lose weight as I'm eating better then I use to but still not depriving myself of the not so great stuff that we do sometimes crave!0

I eat food, and most of the time it's healthy. Sometimes I eat a candy bar or a cookie, but overall I don't believe in 'cheat' days. If you go overboard one day just get back on track the next, but it seems too controlling, at least for me, to say 'these days I can eat this, and this day I can eat something else.' Along the same lines I don't believe in rewarding myself for weightloss either. It should be a lifestyle, being healthy and looking good is be reward enough.0

I have cheat days, but it's because of alcohol, not extra food. I know it's bad, but I'm going to use the young and dumb excuse for as long as I can.0
-
Don't deny, everything in moderation and make sure you get exercise. This is a lifestyle change, so denying yourself ice cream, or chips..or whatever would be foolish. For me it was easy to cut certain things out completely because I hardly ate them any ways. But ice creams and the odd cookie here and there are staying!0

I usually have one once a week. I still want to go out and live.
Besides, the "zig zagging" of calorie intake usually helps break a plateau anyway.0 -
i try to keep my cheat days with in 500 cal of my daily goal0

THIS and working out hard and every day nearly... then you never feel the need for one and won't need to.0 -
I don't cheat.
I refeed.0 -
I have a cheat day once a week and then work my butt off the other 6 days. I've been consistently losing each week as well. I don't see a problem with going a little over board every now and again. I just make sure to stay around my maintenance calories.0
