I really don't know where to start. I am happy that I saw a recommendation of this website to help with recording your diet & exercise as you work through your program. I am really happy to see that it was easy to use and since my job sometimes has me traveling, I can access it anywhere I go as long as I have a computer w/ internet.
I think that one of my biggest problems is that whenever I travel, I give myself a "free pass" to eat whatever and forget exercise. When I return home, it is sooooooooo hard to get myself back into the groove. I also have a hard time returning to my exercise routine after illnesses. Such as I had a horrible cold a couple of weeks ago, but I 've not yet started to exercise again. I don't know what my problem is, other than neglect and procrastination. I do have a long way to go to be anywhere close to a healthy weight & waist - I need get rid of 75-85 lbs and reduce my waist by at least 12 inches!
I didn't think that my diet was so bad, since I do love veggies, fish and whole-grain carbs, but doing the 1st food journal was an eye opener. I was eating too much, and I had no idea that I was. Reading some of the messages on the boards does give me encouragement that this program has and does work since it will (and has) make me so aware of what I am doing right and what I need to work on improving.

Hi, and welcome!
Yup, MFP REALLY, REALLY DOES work! I had tried EVERYTHING out there, including hypnosis, TWICE, but nothing worked compared to MFP. AND, it's ALMOST been easy! I'm not depriving myself, I still have a double cheeseburger at McDonald's occasionally, as well as icecream almost every night! (course it's Edy's slow churned, no sugar added kind, but it tastes the same as the real thing to me!)
All I needed was to see my numbers, ALL the calories, fats, etc. that I was eating every day. Now I've changed my portion size and DO eat "good" most of the time. It took me about 8 months to get to my goal, and hopefully, I WILL keep it off. I've mostly been juggling the same 5 pounds back and forth now since December. To me, that's pretty darned good!
Best of luck to you, stick with it, and it WILL work! :flowerforyou:0 -

It's not only great for losing the weight, but it works wonders for people like me who use it for maintenance.0
