My husband is going to Guatemala on a school trip for 23 days.

I want to stun his pants off when he gets back! I'm about 2 months in to my weight loss journey and have lost 11 pounds.
I'm 5'4" and 175 lbs.

I really want to work extra hard these 23 days.

What do you guys think will work best to make his knees weak when he gets back? I really want him to see a difference! :)

Start running!!! It has boosted my weight loss since I started c25k, and I love it!

    Sweat it all out! :)
  • 30 Day Shred by Jillian Michaels. I'm starting today for the first time. I hope to get good results... the others that I have seen do have had amazing results in just 30 days. Good luck :)

Best way to see a difference is to clean up and get a healthy diet, the workouts will help but diet is at the core of any results.

There are alot of options, but I know where you are coming from......Try the Scarsdale Diet, it is a 14 day plan designed to lose about 15 lbs in 2 weeks. While I know it's not the long term solution, it sure works. Be careful in your excercise routine because of the lower calories and combined food groups. Wishing you the best of luck...keep us posted! Please keep in mind that this is short term. Best of luck!
  • 30ds ! I never tried it but my mfp friends said its great, and i saw their results they changed a lot :)

    This.

Eating is 70% of the puzzle for me. Exercise is 30%. Also cutting down on sodium will help.
  • I also LOVE C25K!! Finished and I started it again at the 4 week mark!!!!

I recommend the book, "The Fat Smash Diet" by Dr. Ian K. Smith. If you really want to loose the lbs. try his book and stay on Phase 1. The first 9 days will show results. Dr. Ian will tell you the foods to eliminate that you really don't need. When my husband did it, he lost 12 lbs in the first 9 days. He weighed 243 lbs and after 9 days he weighed 231 lbs. He cut a lot of frivolous foods out such as candy, dougnuts, soda, fast foods, and etc. He is a true snacker. He also incorporated exercising. I lost only 4 lbs. in 9 days because I did not exercise. So...if you want to jump start your weight loss try his book.We did this in 2006. Now, I am TRYING to eat more vegetables, whole grains, and water. On the weekends, I splurge. The months between November and January are very hard to diet.I will get back on the weight loss train in January. Also try Zumba to exercise. Go to Zumba.com and find a trainer in your community. I only pay $5 a session for 1 hour and go twice a week. You can dance off 1000 calories. Good luck with everything!

    4 lbs.

That's the recommended weight loss for MFP. 1 lb per week.
Anything more is unhealthy. I suppose you could double up and go for 2lbs a week - 8lbs.

If you want your husband's knees weak, take the weight off slowly and keep it off over time.

    Crash diets just don't work.

Replying to BobbiCleric: She wants to loose more than 4 lbs. before her husband comes back. I believe jump starting her diet by cutting back in her calorie intake will help.

Don't jump start - just start, go slow and forget trying to crash diet for 23 days.

Think 23 weeks - not days.
Your health and fitness needs to be a lifestyle - not just another failed attempt at a crash diet you tried to fit in a dress or look good for the high school reunion or for 23 days while your husband is gone.

Forget everything you've seen on the show Biggest Loser.

Do Lyle's RFL and follow it to the letter -- especially the part about transitioning to maintenance.

keep your diet clean, stay disciplined and dedicated, log everything, and make good food choices. you can't out train a bad diet.

if you aren't doing weights already, get started. lifting weights has been proven to help cut body fat, and you will not get bulky, i promise.

This is so true - you shouldn't diet in an attempt to lose a lot of weight while gone. But I just updated my measurements and I've lost a full inch off of my waist and an inch off my thighs and bust in 14 days of 30 Day Shred. That is something significant, although the scale doesn't reflect much of a loss.

Your best bet is to stick with something. I'm planning on doing Jillian's Ripped in 30 after I finish the 30 Day Shred.

I'm definitely planning on doing 23 weeks of work, and I've have worked my butt off during these 2 months to get 11 pounds off and lost 26 overall inches!

I'm just looking for something intense..like 30dayshred or JM's 30 day slimdown to really feel great for my hubby when he comes home! But I know I cannot suddenly lose the 40 pounds I want to lose in 23 days! I just want him to notice some definition or a good couple inches!

Thanks for everyone who replied! I think I'm going to try to stick to my diet, do JM's 30 day slimdown, plus some turbo kick and zumba..and see where it gets me in 23 days! I'm gonna try to train like an athlete-hard and mean! :)

Under a doctor's supervision; this is not something a novice should just go out and try.

I agree with the 30DS. I didn't see the scale move any extra (and maybe even slowed down). But I saw a difference in my body shape/inches, especially in my stomach.
