What do you do if you don't eat that amount in calories. I'm struggling with just the 1200 calories as it is and today was a super busy day of cleaning, vigorous that I did today for 2 1/2 hours and then later took my dog for a brisk 15 mins. I only just got to over 1000 calories, and because of my exercising today it says I still have a good more to go!
If you don't use it, does it roll over to the next day?

I really beleive all this calorie burned estimate is way off. It seems they give alot of credit for burned calories. If we all burned calories to that extreme then none of us would even have a weight problem to start with. I think it is best to take the calories burned with a grain of salt and use some common sence. What about those of you that have the hm? How do the numbers compare to the numbers in the data base for calories burned?0

totally agree, the number are very off on a lot.0 -
I finally bought an HRM in October and am glad I did. The MFP calculations are very generous. I would use only about 2/3 of what they say.0

I noticed once I got my HRM that I was burning nowhere near as much as MFP says. I grossly overestimated my level of effort in all exercises and have since discovered just how hard I need to work to get the sort of burns that MFP gives for simple exercises such as walking, cleaning, etc.
Get a HRM - it's the best advice I can give.
As for eating enough, or getting enough calories in for your day, I simply don't understand how you can be overweight if you struggle to eat 1000 calories a day. Are you measuring your food? Do you have a food scale? I think we all like to believe that there's another reason we got as fat as we did, but it really just comes down to calories in, calories out. There's no way you'd be overweight if you have only been eating 1000 calories a day. Take a look at how your eating has changed since you started logging - has it really changed?? Or are you being a little less than honest?0 -
The work out calories on the website are generous. You have to really work it to get to those numbers. Get an HRM if you want to get more accurate count. However, I baffle to understand how you struggle to eat 1000 calories. That tells me that you don't nutrition your body as you should in order to keep active metabolism. My guess is that 1000 calories are well below you basal metabolic rate. You can't lose weight like that .. or at least not in the long term. If you make your food and exercise log visible to people I am sure that you will get a lot of good advises on how to come up with a good balance that will carry you through the long term0

One person can burn twice as much as another for the same exercise duration. It depends on age, height, weight, gender, fitness level...
To be honest, I find the MFP values quite comparable to my HRM. And after all, it all counts! Keep it up!!
