Die from being too skinny ?!

I saw a few peoples posts/info on their profile, all of them are girls around 18, they are eating around 400kcl during the week, have lots of days they dont eat anything and they saying that if they can choose how to die they want to die being too skinny/ starve themselves. I know you can go really onto dieting, eating less than 1200 kcl, as I'm not always eating that much, but 400kcl? are they being serious, is it enough for them for all day ?

No its not and sadly if they carry on they probably will die the way they want too. It's sad but I think a lot of people on here have serious eating disorders.0

Oh dear this doesn't sound good at all. They sound like they have Anorexia to me.0

No, it's not enough. My best advice is to ignore them... it seems quite attention seeking to be posting about stuff like that. Eating disorders are not a joke and not something to go around boasting on forum posts about how little you can eat etc.
They are only hurting themselves rather than helping themselves in the long run, and eventually they'll find this out.0 -

But by writing that kind of posts maybe they will realise it quicker0 -
People do die from it. And when they die, they don't die looking beautiful. They die looking horrible. 1200 calories is the lowest amount anyone should eat on a regular basis while dieting, as eating less than that can have health consequences. Eating 400 calories is crazy and can kill you. Anyone who thinks that it is worth the risk to eat like that in order to look skinny needs help with treatment with an eating disorder.0

Karen Carpenter died from it. ED is prevalent in many teenage girls because of how females are viewed by....................other females. It's a disorder that needs to be recognized and addressed with the person soon because the longer it lasts (like any disorder) will be harder to cure.

my flat mate actually started her anorexia habbit from using mfp.. which kind of makes me abit wary about some peoples diets on here.. Having seen her struggle to try and beat it, i would not recommend it to anyone, for her its a daily battle to eat and it has pretty much crippled her life for the year as she pretty much eats all day now but her body is so screwed it took her metabolism along time for it to realise she wasnt starving herself.. i have seen people on here who were eating retardedly and i have mentioned it to them and well if they get upset with me they get upset with me.. but i like to think that maybe something i said struck home way back in their mind but if they dont change their ways i delete them because it annoys me sooo much just seeing someone hurt themselves that way and you dont need to cope with it!! if they dont listen to you its not your fault!! hang in there and please dont let it get to you too much0

also its not just a problem with females there are alot of men which struggle alot with AN0

We can blame the media & sometimes the family members also for this. The media sets us in a lot of pressure to be anorexic thin by putting special emphasis on those stick thin models/celebrities as beautiful while ignoring normal people. Some family members also do more harm than good when it comes to criticizing their daughter's/cousin's/niece's weight. I have been there before so I know how it badly it feels to be criticized that way & to feel like an "outcast", not only in terms of self-esteem but more on health.0

Def not good!! Don't they know "skinny" chicks actually do eat! Its all about metabolism! Eat up girl!0

Its a mental illness. Those with a serious condition are usually doing it as a way of self harm (among other things). Just ignore them. You can't get fit by not eating. Only bony and flabby. xP If you find it disturbing delete them.0

Yeah, I had a [male] friend in college who was severely anorexic and had already been hospitalized several times because of it.0 -
I agree with the comments posted above, but do sometimes feel that what you see is not outright ED, but naivety and lack of knowledge about how to diet the right way. There is so much misinformation out there, that it is easy for people to take the wrong route because they believe that they can lose weight faster that way. The most important thing in either case is not to judge.0
