I go to the gym about 5 days a week and I do love it! I do a lot of cardio and that I have no problem with. I am struggling with what to do with my cardio, I am 283lbs so I have a long way to go before I need to tone. I want to work on my arms, my weakest, I have the "bat flap" upper arms, what do I need to do to tighten that up, but not bulk up??? Less weight and more reps? What kind of exercises?? Any help would be great, I would love to one day wear a tank top without having to worry about my fat arms!

Thanks
Jess

when it comes to fat loss you can't spot reduce... and cardio is a fat-burning exercise. Are you looking to do strength training? because that's where the high reps/low weight will come in. That helps with toning. BUT the fat over the muscles will still be there. Only eating at a deficit, cardio, and time will get rid of it.

don't worry about "bulking up" women physically CAN'T bulk up unless they are on a very strict (and probably steroid-induced) diet. If you're counting calories you're gonna shrink either way. focus on getting stronger. Have you tried Jillian Michaels 30-day shred? it has some GREAT strength exercises that I do at the gym even when i'm not following the dvd.

Usually if you want to tone you would do high reps with low weight. Buidling muscle is the opposite ~ high weight with low reps.

Being female though means that you're really not gonna turn into Arnold so keep that in mind.

To work out the back of the arms you need to work your triceps. You can try tricep dips, or skull crushers with dumbbells. There is also tricep pull downs on the machines.
