Hi Everyone, I joined MFP about a week ago and definitely see how this forum can provide success. I know that in order for me to succeed I need help and support from others along the way to help me when I have a bad eating day, or don't exercise as much as I should be. I'm currently on maternity leave and am struggling with being at home ( with a 4 month old and 4 year old) with too many temptations. Anyone else out there who wants support please join me.

I'm right there with you! I JUST joined yesterday, so I have a ways to go, but I'm a photographer, so MOST of my day is spent at home on the computer editing sessions....with my kids. Haha. It's SO easy to eat their leftover pizza from lunch or swipe one of their cookies, but from past experience, I've found that it is easier to stay on track when the crap food isn't in the house. When we were on Weight Watchers before my last pregnancy, I would let each person in the family pick out 1...and ONLY one...non-nutritional item each. That was our cheat. Rather then having 3/4 of our cart full of crap, we had 4 items. The first trip was full of complaining. NO ONE wanted to choose just one, but what happened over time was that our desire for sugar and salt greatly decreased. After a couple months of grocery trips, everyone was picked out much healthier "Cheat Treats". Anyways, I think we are already friends, so anything you need, I am here!0

Being at home all day can really be a tricky situation. Before going back to college in August I was home all day running a daycare. I know it can be hard to keep yourself away from all the food in the house or just get bored and want to snack on something. My trick was, whenever the craving to snack hit, to grab my water glass that holds two cups of water and fill it up. It really did help and I finally learned that the snacky feeling I was having was really that I was thirsty because then I would reach for my water killing two birds with one stone.

Thanks Ladies. I do also believe that I have to get the "junk food" out of the house. Or at least downstairs or somewhere where I don't know where it is or see it everyday. I'll try the water trick as well. Thanks again!0
