A realization about food

A discovery I have made on this journey so far?? A 1/2 cup of Edy's Light Slow Churned Ice Cream tastes just as good as a huge bowl full!! And I feel better after that serving than I would have stuffing myself!
Portion control is an amazing tool and it also opens your eyes to how you view food. It is not the enemy. It CAN nourish your body and contribute to your overall health. You CAN enjoy tasty things and feel satisfied at the end of the day. Our bodies just don't need the amount we have been stuffing into it!
Discuss!!! LOL
(Like Linda Richmond on Saturday Night Live on Cawfee Tawlk!!!, The Prince of Tides was neither about Prince NOR Tides...Discuss!!!)

I had one of those the other day. I went to a restaurant, ordered (a real treat meal here) shepherd's pie. When the waitress put it in front of me I thought "that's not enough food. I won't be full."
And guess what, I couldn't finish the portion. Eat slowly, and (here's a big one for me) taste every bite. Really, really taste it. I spent some time in culinary school, and a common test at the higher levels would be to duplicate a recipe after just tasting something. That's what I try to do now. It's fun for me, but I'm weird.
Now, talk amongst yourselves. . .for I am vaklempt. faklempt? (more Linda Richmond references)0 -
Vaklempt or faklempt - either is correct - had an argument with family members about it one time - we really will argue about anything.
Next time you buy the packaged lettuce - look how many servings are in there. In the small 5 oz bag - 1 serving! It's the only thing I know of that I just use one serving  Even frozen veggies, I usually eat the entire bag (about 4-5 servings).0 -
Another realization. I gave my son 1/2 a mini bagel with cream cheese and decided to enjoy the other half with 1/2 tbsp of REAL, FULL-FAT cream cheese. You know what?? It is SO much better than the fat-free kind!!! It just makes you realize that if we keep our portions under control, we CAN enjoy the good stuff in moderation!!0

yes yes yes! I concur! lol
I love the taste of REAL food....and wow I'm amazed at how much I used to eat as opposed to now....portion control is an amazing too! How about pasta, wow....I remember even growing up (every sunday was gravy(sauce w/ meatballs, sausage, pork....) and pasta and we'd get big o' bowls of it...like 2 boxes served the six of us and almost no leftovers....it make you think!
I will now savor the taste of my real food choices as cut back as they are and get nice and satisfied...not bloated and feel sick afterward.......I"m w/ you this is like butta!
hugs!

I know exactly how you feel! I hate the low fat, non-fat stuff....tastes nasty to me. I just use the real thing and portion out. Like Philly Cream Cheese, and mayo.0 -
