Hi, I was looking to log a particular form of exercise today that I can't find in the database. Does anyone know how many calories sexual activity burns? I tried looking it up but all the estimates are like 80 calories an hour, which is ridiculous - if walking burns 200 cals an hour, sex HAS to burn more than that, right? Anyway, if anyone could maybe point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

calories Burned During Sex
The Act of Insertion
If the man is ready (same vice-versa) 1/4 calories
If the woman is not (same vice-versa) 274 calories
Satisfying Partner (organ size)
Most experts agree that size means nothing. Shape is what counts, and the man with a shaped organ can write his own ticket. In those rare instances where a man has a genuinely small member, he may have to compensate by working slightly harder, but this is good for weight loss. A man with a really large organ, while he might not have to work as hard once inside, may exhaust himself just trying to convince his partner to let him put it inside.

Oversize 15 calories
Tremendous 8 calories
Teensy-weensy 163 calories

Most of the web sites I found about this are of the humorous nature--this one included:
http://www.disabled-world.com/artman/publish/calories-sex.shtml
At the bottom it does say, "Seriously though it has been estimated that having sex for a half hour burns approximately 150 to 200 calories and sometimes maybe as high as 350 calories if you are really active in bed."
Maybe some people with HR monitors could offer up some totals for us..... :blushing:0 -
Unless you are a frequent visitor to the Governor of New York, I don't think you should count it into the burning of calories for your day. It's kind of like asking "Hey how many calories do I burn when I walk to the mailbox to check the mail?"0

I'm going to guess that the difference between walking and sexing (yes, I just made that word up) is that walking is a weight-bearing exercise. That is, walking probably burns more calories because your muscles are pushing the entire weight of your body forward - think about the work your legs have to do in pushing against the ground in order to propel you forward. Even more if you're jogging or running and your body actually leaves the ground mid-stride. Then there are the upper body movements that go along with it to help you balance. I think a person would have to do a lot of weight-bearing, locomoting sex in order for their body to do as much work as it does when walking/jogging/running!
Unless of course the sex is so good that your body leaves the ground, as in an out-of-body experience :smokin:
p.s. - this website breaks it down into foreplay and intercourse, with intercourse being on par with walking per their estimation!

Yeah maybe if your getting it everyday your body would adjust to it. But some of us dont and when we do, its like running a marathon!! :laugh:0 -

Well lets see, sex is not a weight-bearing exercise but it does really hike up your BP and heart rate, involves almost every muscle in the body (well depends on how you do it, I guess) and really increases your breathing. Walking, well, not so much. I don't sweat after a good bout of 'walking'. lol. Has to be a good workout if it gets you sweating, right? (and no it's not really an every day activity, not for me anyway. I sure hope it doesn't get to be like walking to the mailbox!)
Thanks for the enthusiastic response, guys!0 -
Ok, I don't count it as exercise... just a bonus for the day. But it has to burn at least equal to walking, especially if you are on top, takes just as much power to be on top and make it all happen as it does to walk, you may just be using different muscles!0

How many calories does "laughing so hard you wet your pants" burn up? Thanks for the knee-slapper! :laugh:0
