Question mainly for women

Hello, my name is Tracy... I'm pretty new here, was doing the fitday thing, I think I'm liking this better. I'm looking for some help answering a woman question. I've lost 29 pounds in about 5 weeks & missed my period (by 7 days now), there's no chance I'm pregnant... So, my question is... Is it normal to skip periods when you're dieting & exercising a lot? Thanks in advance for any help. Good luck on YOUR mission!

Yeah, they'll get lighter too. You're putting a lot of stress on your body which can tinker with your cycle. But it's nothing to worry about. Your body will adjust eventually.
I hear on those survivor shows, some of those women end up stopping their cycles until they get kicked off and go back to their normal lives .0 -
be aware that losing your period can also be an indication that you have lost too much weight, or too much too fast. if your body thinks it's not healthy enough to be fertile, then it could be telling you that you are putting way too much stress on it.0

I'm curious as to how you lost that much weight in 5 weeks? What's your secret, girl?0

Oops, my bad; I just assumed you had a higher BMI. Yes, it can be too much too soon also.0

Thanks for all the replies!
As to how...
I've been eating between 800 & 1000 cals a day, I walk 2.3 miles everyday (no matter what), I do between 15 & 30 mins of strength training daily, I never skip meals, lots of small meals (snacks) all day, up until 6:30 pm, then nothing but water. Plus I drink about 80 oz of water a day.
That's it!0 -
You probably need to call your physician or his nurse practitioner and tell him/her your caloric intake and your carb protein fat distributions and he could probably tell you the real cause. Thanks for all the replies!

I followed some of your advice and talked to my family doctor. Everything seems to be fine, rapid weight loss can lead your body to believe you are not healthy enough to reproduce therefore you won't ovulate, so no period. I won't continue not to have one, now that I'm losing at a slower pace. Thanks again to all of you for the replies!
I hope everyone has had an awesome Mother's Day!
