Is your diet making your skin better or worse?

I've only been at this for about 7-8 weeks, but I wonder if now that I'm eating better, I should expect to see changes in my skin?

I've always heard that eating better will make your skin better, but always felt it was just a myth. I'm 27 but I still have very bad skin, which I try desperately to keep at bay. It's not easy since my skin is super sensitive as well... So a part of me is hoping maybe it was years of bad eating habits!

Anyway, I was just wondering if any of you could share any experiences you have :smile:

    Drinking 8 cups of water every day has made my skin much softer. I think my hair is even growing faster.

    All the sweating and water drinking has made mine better, although it wasn't bad to begin with. It just looks more moisturized and my pores are smaller.

    Mine was way way worse for months. In fact, most of the time I was in deficit, but now I am maintaining it's fine. I do have more wrinkles and drier skin now, though.

    Really? I drink a lot of water too, maybe I should starr drinking more, I would love for my hair to grow faster! Water is the best thing for you!

    I'm gonna be 32 in January and I STILL HAVE PIMPLES!

    I went vegan oil-free November 1st of this year and my skin is definitely better. I can't remember the last pimple I've had.

    I don't think I am eating better, that could be something to do with it. I never ate badly (though I have always had fairly rubbish skin), I just eat less now, but the things I eat haven't changed at all.

    I have found very little difference. I drink anywhere from 8-12 large glasses of water a day. I haven't seen much of a difference in my skin. If anything it's a bit more dry. I'm even still suffering from eczema even with all the added nutrition.

    My eczema is much worse when I weigh less.

    I've had several Dr's tell me that food doesn't cause bad skin, it's hormones. So no, changing my eating habits did nothing.

    When I actually get my 64 oz of water in, I do notice my skin has a nice youthful look to it.

    When I am eating crap and not getting enough water and exercise I definitely notice it looks dull and blah.

    So yea, I'd say it has been making it better. :drinker:

    Fish Oils has made a weird difference in my skin and hair.

    I have psoriasis. I take Stelara so that keeps it in check, but I started fish oils about a month back and I'm noticing my skin is getting softer and my hair has a much more noticeable shine to it since taking fish oils.

    My skin has improved incredibly since I've been eating better. I never used to have people comment on my complexion, but they do quite a bit now. I drink lots of water every day, but I think that it is the inclusion of more healthy fats (fatty fish, avocado, olive oil, nuts etc.) that has made the biggest difference.

    My skin and hair are much much better. I have lost that middle aged red faced look. Like other posters I have had extra spots (and the odd boil) and my eczema has been worse. I have started using Lush's ultrabalm on my kneck when at the gym as a barrier against sweat which seems to help. I am also using a lot of HC45 cream.

    Mine has definitely improved. I still get the occasional TOM related pimple, but most of the time, my skin is MUCH clearer. I eat more healthily - less fat & oil now - and I drink a ton of water. At least a gallon (16 - 8oz cups) a day.

    I drink 10-14 cups of water a day and I've notice a difference in my skin!! It's not as dry, much softer, and my face has a nice glow and a more even tone...I don't wear makeup as much as I used to because I don't feel I need it =)

    My skin has more of a glow to it the more water I drink. I definately think it makes a difference! I'm not sure about blemishes though, my face doesn't really break out.

    I make sure to drink a lot of water, that definitely helps. :) Stress can make it worse. Any sugars, lots of whites, etc. When your insulin spikes, your androgen levels rise as well, and those are hormones and they can wreck havoc on your skin if you're easily affected with things like that.

    Drinking and eating veggies and healthier has definitely helped. I try to stay away from fruits with a lot of natural sugar, or at least eat in moderation, because sometimes those trigger breakouts for me. I hate them, I get them on my chin and around my mouth and they drive me nuts. :(

    Definitely. I had major, major acne in high school. It started clearing up around my Sophomore or Junior year when I stopped eating meat and went away almost completely when I started drinking more water and working out, except for the normal occasional break out here and there.
