Ok, I know it's an age-old and very widely used trick but for some reason this has totally worked for me today so I wanted to share my joy (wow, I need to get a life).

If you always seem to still feel hungry after your meals, like me, use this little trick:

Eat your meal with a small plastic teaspoon & take a few big gulps of water every 3 bites. It really helps!

Disposable plastic coffee and tea spoons are generally much smaller than ordinary stainless steel teaspoons. The one I've used is super shallow too, meaning I cant shovel the food in as fast as I'd like.

PS. Re-use the spoon & help the environment.
PPS. I am STUFFED and I couldnt even finish what I would normally finish in half the normal time if using normal cutlery.

I try to drink a glass or two of water before I eat. I wouldn't be able to pause long enough to take the big gulps every three bites.

Even Nettle Tea is amazing at helping to trick the body into feeling fuller - I dont know why I dont do this more often!

I was gonna say chia seeds and psyllium husk fiber-lol

It's also been proven when you eat on smaller plates you think you are eating more because it takes up more space. What I've found though is I no longer like that "full feeling". I just eat until I'm no longer hungry. :)

Portion size has always been a problem for me so I find if I use one of the kids plates for me I eat so much less.

I'm a fast eater and had the issue of I'd eat so fast that my brain couldn't keep up with how full my stomach was and I'd end up over eating (the I'm-going-to-puke-if-I-eat-another-bite feeling). Not to mention if I go out to eat, I'd clear my plate. Two things I've started to do that really help are the following:

    (1) Put my fork down between every bite. This lets me savor the taste of what I'm eating and actually enjoy the food instead of using the spoon like a shovel!

    (2) Before I start to eat at a restaurant, I ask for a to-go box and put half my food in the box and place it on the seat next to my husband. That way I only see the half of my food that is reamaining (which is usually what one serving is supposed to be anyways).

    I LOVE this idea!

In fact I did this last night with my own home cooked meal - I saved half of the normal portion for lunch for tonight. I'll just add more green beans to bulk it out, I love those things.
