What Have You Politely Turned Away?

Tis the season for sweets, candies, cookies, breads, muffins, buffets, dips and drinks. I remember last year I was on such a good roll before christmas, then just lost is over the holiday. This year I am taking a more proactive damage control stance. Just because it is christmas week, doesn't give a green light to indulge. These treats still have the same calorie content, fat and processed ingredients as they do in August or May!
What have you politely declined this week and been proud of the decision?
Today alone has been penny candy and donuts. I also made chocolate cover pretzels and didn't have any.
We should celebrate our willpower!!! Great job for keeping on track.

Today so far I have declined almond bark bars, brownies and xmas cookies still left in the office. I brought in some pita crackers and veggie hummus for my snack today.0

I find the opposite problem to most people at this time of year.
I am vegetarian and severely allergic to oranges, and EVERYTHING has orange peel in at this time of year. I can't eat mince pies, christmas cake, christmas pudding, stollen, mulled wine.
These things seem to be served exclusively at Christmas parties, which means most of the time, I am stuck drinking water and with no food at all.
I spend much of the Christmas season hungry and angry.0 -
Today in the breakroom Krispy Kreme Donuts, in the month of December I have turned down 6 office Christmas parties.0

Red velvet cake yesterday. It was actually because I'm allergic to dairy and I had some cookies the other day thinking it would be okay and I ended up with a killer migraine. I explained this to my friend and she said "it must have been the frosting on the cookies" (they were chocolate chip, and isn't frosting just sugar anyway?) and she kept trying to get me to taste little bits of the cake "without frosting." I tried to explain that it looked delicious I just didn't want to risk it again but what I wanted to say was "***ch there are eggs in your cake and I know it!" :grumble:0

The past few nights I've declined several kinds of cookies, birthday cake, and last night a birthday cupcake with lots of frosting. They all looked so delicious, but not worth the calories or the increased waistline. Good job everyone0

I have turned away NOTHING! I try a sample of it all. If I really like it I have 2nds. I log it and use it as motivation to burn it off on planned work out days.0

Just popcorn in a tin thus far. My work doesn't bring in a lot of Christmas food, but tomorrowe are having a chili lunch with lots of bad toppings so I am going to go visit and eat lunch somewhere else afterwards.0

Everything at the department christmas party. Wasn't a.surprise to anyone since I often turn down office party pot luck food. Not big on eating from people's personal kitchen.0

I've had a problem with turning down food this holiday season... but yesterday I made a hard effort to turn down the crackers, dip, and carrot cake at work. And then someone came around with cookies and I actually said, thanks but no thank you. It felt good. Hopefully I'll continue...0

About the frosting... I know the stuff I make for my sugar cookies do have milk in it. You use it in addition to the powdered sugar to get the consistency you need to ice the cookies. It also helps keep the frosting richer then if you used water.
And I have no turned down anything. I just watch how much of it I eat, log it, and deal with it as it goes. I have yet to go over my calories.0 -

Breakfast buffet at work today. I did not eat the pastries, donuts, bagels and cream cheese. Only had the quiche and fresh fruit which was the most nutritious.0

Haven't had much opportunity to be exposed to holiday goodies yet. Can't wait to fail to turn them down... yum.0 -

 Hey, drug addicts and degenerates can be giving, too!0 -
I try turning it down but I just end up eating it the next day or hours later. lol. I've decided I'm more worried about toning than losing weight.0

from the 12 through the 23rd, my office does something called Gluttonfest. People bring in cake, cookies, pies, cheesecake, breakfast items, with the rare veggie tray. When there has been a veggie tray, that's what I've grabbed, that and a clementine. Overall, i've avoided the table.
I also baked cookies and have not had one, I participated in a cookie exchange and only ate one. I had a small part of a candy bar last night.
Overall, I feel I've done pretty well.0 -
Sweet Jesus! Chocolate cupcakes, and cranberry loaf . I love anything sweet but I met my indulgence qouta this season with three christmas parties. Is it weird to feel guilty for saying no thank you?! However I do feel good now that I exercised self control.0

I love this post!! I'm just logging in after a week away partly because I was traveling for work and generally not eating healthy and didn't want to actually SEE what I was consuming and partly because I wanted to endulge myself with all the sweets people keep bringing to my office (argh!!). Today though, I am avoiding and will continue to all day, the peanut brittle and chocolate in the office kitchen. Thanks for everyone's inspiration as we enter the most sugary and fattening week (at least in my family) of all!0

Don't tell my mother...but I gave away all of the goodies she sent me in the mail: :noway:
-reindeer poop (peanuts & marshmellows covered in chocolate)
-homemade peanut butter cups
-pretzels with almond bark
-fudge
-mint chocolate chip cookies
I just couldn't deal with them being in the house...and I LOVE my mom's cooking/baking. So, I knew that I had to get rid of it before I ate it all. I'm not disciplined enough to just "sample". So, I gave it to my husband to bring to his office. I am most proud of that!!! :laugh:0 -
Last year, my New Years' resolution was to give up ALL candy (yes, every type) and it WORKED! I let everyone know my goal and my friends and family held me accountable. Once March rolled around, I didn't even want junk food anymore. It gets easier with time. I re-gift any chocolates or candy packages!
Now I munch on frozen strawberries and mangos if I want something sweet.
5 pounds lighter... it's definitely worth offending some hosts and annoying some friends with my "junk food free" lifestyle.0 -
EVERYTHING that I did not prepare myself nor included in my diet plan.0
