    Hi there,

How long will your doctor have you on it?

Here in the US Orlistat is available by prescription as Xenical, or over-the-counter as Alli. I have heard a lot of conflicting information about the success of Alli (never heard of anyone personally on the prescription version). There are a lot of published negative side effects all over the web about this drug, but also a lot of success stories.

If your doctor has prescribed it, then make sure you discuss with him the changes in your body, moods, energy levels, and food intake. It's great that you are seeing weight loss, but this drug also inhibits the absorption of many vitamins, so you many need to take supplements. In my opinion, this is not a long term solution, so you will have to learn new ways of eating eventually that contain the appropriate amounts of calories and fat without an inhibitor.

A lot of people are 100% against diet pills -- others are in favor. I tend to believe that any drug is risky to your health and long-term weight loss success, so be very cautious of what will happen once you stop taking it.

    Best of luck!

not a fan of diet pills myself

I just wanted to let you know that if you repost this under the name Alli, you will probably get more replies because there are a few here who use the drug under that name.
