The community center down the street is going to be offering a kickboxing class and id like to join. They want you to bring your own gloves and wraps and while looking around- i did not realize gloves come in all different weights and doing a little google-fu i found myself getting confused. More articles when talking about women's gloves refer to shorter and lighter females. While i am 5ft5- i am NOT 130lb but well... over 200lb. Does that mean i look into men's gloves? (which does not bother me because seeing the bright pink and purple gloves tends to scare me a bit)

Also with the arthritis- should i take certain extra percausion? I haven't had much trouble with them lately for the winter- but that does not mean if i am not careful i might not later with the class.

Any advice would be wonderful- thank you.

I have no advice on the arthritis- but I bought the Everlast training gloves from Amazon in 14 oz, and with handwraps under them, they fit me just right. I am 5'7" and 140 lbs. I would for sure get the 180 length in handwraps, any shorter and I didn't feel my hands were wrapped good enough. My husband has the men's in 16 oz and they fit him at 190 lbs and 6'1" as a reference. If you have bigger hands, you might want the 16 oz, but I have fairly big hands for my weight and the 14 was good enough for me. Hope it helps a little :)

Are the gloves weighted gloves or boxing gloves?

I'd ask a sports dr about the arthritis thing.

Im assuming its RA - prolly just need to use a wrap underneath the glove and maybe take some extra NSAIDS to keep the swelling down, I don't know if extra padding would help much, probably just want to stick to a light weight glove

of course asking your doctor is always the best idea
