Will this time be for real?

So I have been on here since June but haven't followed through much. I find myself eating well and recording my foods for a few days and then I stop. This usually means that I am eating bad and I don't want to hold myself accountable. If I have to record it, I have to admit that I ate it, right?! This should be a big clue for me right there....if I'm too ashamed to record it, I shouldn't be eating it.
So here I am again, and I am hoping I can stick to it. I know I will have bad days and slip ups, but I need to not give up. I need to hold myself accountable and keep at it. I am going to attempt to get on these message boards more in hopes that the stories and struggles of others will help me as well.
The good news is, this is my second month with a gym membership. I don't go on a regular basis, but I make it at least 3 times a week for an hour. This is better than just sitting on my butt like I was before. I used my busy schedule as an excuse before, but I recently graduated so I'm not as busy. No more excuses. I either get results, or give excuses. Not both.
Wish me luck! I NEED to stick to it this time!

I'm in the same boat as you. Been here since january and only just starting to do this for real. But this time will work. There aren't many things people are good at on their first try, but the fact that you're here and trying again means that you're more motivated than most people already. You can do it! (:0

Wishing you good luck. One thing for me that has really worked in the short time I've been using MFP is that I use my cell phone with the phone app for doing most of my posting of food- I can immediately post after a meal or snack. If I relied on just posting from my lap top it would be harder to keep up to date and honest. Don't know what you use but if you are not using the phone app you might consider it.0

RLYSRH--Thanks for the encouraging words! "there is not many things that people are good at on their first try". Very true! By the end of this journey, I will be a pro at losing weight! haha kidding, but you are right, I am here again so I am on the right track! I took at look at your profile and I like that you are making small goals for yourself. I think I might try that because I think once I hit my first goal, I will see that I CAN do it and it will motivate me even more to hit the next goal. Thanks for the inspiration!
HOUSEGIRL2--I do have the app on my phone, and I try to use it frequently. I like to use my laptop more just because it is easier and I can access more things, but it is definitely a useful tool. My favorite part is that I can look up the calorie count and nutritional information for a product anytime, anywhere. This is GREAT when eating out. And you are right....it does help with staying honest. I know sometimes I forget that I snacked on something at work, but with the app on my phone, I can record it right away.0 -
Bumping this because I am looking for more buddies to help keep me on track (and of course I'll do the same for you!).
I'm 5'3 and 159.6 lbs as of right now. I would like to get down to at least 130. Anyone else similar to me or just looking for some motivation? Please add me!0 -
Hello and welcome. You can do it. I had the same problem. At the begining of January I weighed173, did Turbo Fire, and got down to around 162-164, but didn't move for a while. I've been sticking to MFP for the last 3 months and am now 157. I know it doesn't seem like a lot but my goal weight is 155, so those last few pounds are hard! Anyway, I was doing the same thing you were basically. I would log say 5 or 6 days out of the week, and I'm guessing I ate back all my deficit from the week on the weekend, when I ignored MFP! So once I started holding myself accountable for everything I ate, no matter how bad it was, I lost the additional weight, so it does work. it's hard to get in the habit of at first, but it's worth it. Now I'm just focusing on zig zaggig calories and getting back into intense workouts. Add my if you would like, and good luck!0

Im with you. I did P90X, lost almost 30 pounds and then Halloween hit... followed by Thanksgiving, a slew of holiday parties and well... no exercise (Other than the fact I am up and out of the house every morning before sunrise) and I did not track what I ate (I did not want to crash the MFP servers....)
Now I am doing Insanity, NOT cheating and recording everything... so.... my point it thats ok... some people are just super dedicated and have better will power than others, but just keep coming back and eventually your habits will change.0 -
You can do this honey. I joined mfp last year but only started using it this year and guess what? I reached goal this year and that's all due to consistent logging. Even when I am waaaay over cals. Stick with it honey and you will get there. X0

You can do this! By some sort of miracle I was able to really get into logging my food on the first try...with MFP...prior to this I tried keeping track on paper or other crazy ideas! But now that I have gotten into doing this every day and having an amazing support team of friends on here it has become a whole lot easier! I'll send you a friend request!0

Hi Danielle, Welcome back! I've been a MFP member since last February and I go through bouts of not logging my food either becuase I've eaten so much I don't have time to sift through the data base looking for it or I just don't want to own it. But eventually I do start to log it all in because I remember why I want/need to lose in the first place. THe one thnig you can do is make your food diary private...that way you only have to own up to yourself and not feel embarrassed about what others might think. THough with that said, if it wasn't for this site and everyone here I wouldn't have been able to lose nearly 50 pounds so far. I'm 5'4" and 167 and still have more to lose. It's taken me 15 months to lose nearly 50 pounds and most of it was lost with the help of all my friends here. THe tools and especially the members here are invaluable!!! Use us!! Lean on us!!! We got your back!! Please feel free to friend me!! ANd friend my friends too!! THey are amazing people!!! GOod luck to you!!0
