A Pity Party Half Hour -- No Food Allowed

I am surrounded by love and family and friends with a job that I like and in better health than I have been in years. While I will allow myself from 7:30 to 8:00 a.m. to feel the sadness of the current status of a relationship with an adult child, I will then redirect my energy to my soon to arrive guests and the positive intent of this holiday season. During this his half hour, while I ride this wave, I will allow any raw emotions, but the keyboard and MFP is as close to food as I will allow.

Bump.
I'm trying not to bug my husband with this. It would take him longer than a half hour, but I think I need a virtual hug. And since it is a pity party, I am pathetically bumping.0 -

Thank you for the hugs. Surprising how comforting they were. My half hour is over. In the midst of it, my rescue dog of three years, came over and gave a big giant dog hug. My husband was spared unneccessary anger and sorrow and my guests will get the happy, loving hostess they deserve.
And to tie it to MFP, I normally would have skipped breakfast and begun a raging munch, but I did NOT do that. I am going to prepare breakfast, do some last minute cleaning and reward my hugging dog with a long walk before the descent of the guests.0 -

Dogs know exactly when they are needed.
Glad you came here for hugs. And here is another one ((HUG))
I hope you have a wonderful time with your guests. We all love you too!!!0 -
Well done for changing your way of thinking.
I will have to take a leaf out of your book.

Enjoy your walk and your guests today,......you should be proud of your ability to face some emotional issues head on and not turn to food or other vices. Big hugs to you0

My holiday weekend did not start out well, but I did manage to shake myself out of the doldrums and overall had a great time and hopefully was a good and positive spouse, mom, aunt and friend. I controlled the calories, but not the salt. Alas, I am salt sensitve and have a tendency toward salt induced mild hypertension. So I think now that it is calm, I will take a turn on the treadmill.
Thanks for the virtual hugs and the words of encouragement yesterday. I felt like I had a calming place that allowed me to regroup and be a better person to myself and others, an aspect of fitness that often goes unattended in the flurry of the holiday festivities. Thanks again!0
