My mom ordered Insanity for me...but it isn't supposed to arrive until February!

I was wondering if there were any ways I could dance to music at home to tone up my body?

Im not very good at dancing, but i like to dance around to Reggaeton ^-^ I want a toned body...

Thank you!!!

Sure, dancing will burn calories. Why not Youtube some home workouts while you wait for your Insanity program.

Insanity will help you burn fat, but if you want to "tone," you need weights
  • If you like to dance try zumba. But trying to tone you need weights.

    *This.

When I did Insanity, I *lost* muscle mass, meaning became less "toned."

Pick up heavy weights and put them back down. Repeat. This is how to create muscle "tone."

Weight resistance is needed to "TONE UP" muscle. That way it gets conditioned and not flabby. Push ups, body squats, inverted pullups, planks are good to start with.

To clarify, I did Insanity and lost about 15 lbs. Because of that, you could see more muscle, and I lost inches; it does incorporate a lot of body weight exercises, such as planks, pushups, lunges, etc. However, I started looking a bit scrawny - skinny legs and waist, still more flab that I would want. I found that since I've started lifting 3 times a week (and this is just 15-20 lbs for now), and cutting back on the cardio - my body is much better proportioned, and tighter.

After 60 days of Insanity...which was 60 days of not doing pull-ups, lat pull-downs, etc...I was no longer able to do one single pull-up.

Sure, I lost body fat and LOOKED ripped, but I wasn't nearly as strong as before...I lost muscle.

I remedied that by lifting heavy weights. I did NOT get all bulky like most women pretend will happen, in fact, I lost MORE body fat and was able to do my coveted pull-ups again (among other things, just using pull-ups as an example).

I much prefer to have strong, toned muscle...than to just look strong and toned. And you need weight resistance for that, as ninerbuff mentioned.

Not unheard of. Cardio training catabolizes lean muscle if you don't do resistance training. Clinical studies have proven this.
