I've posted about this before but I just want to share my experience again because a lot of posters have been talking about plateaus.... so 4 weeks ago I was stuck at 157-8 for about two weeks... I broke it with TWO consecutive cheat days where I consumed 6000 calories and I proceeded to drop down to 154-155.... well I was stuck there also until I had another 3000 calorie over day three days ago at the end of which I gained two lbs (156.5).... well as of this morning I weighed 150.4 lbs for a total loss of 3.6 lbs over 3 days from my pre-cheat day weight! I know now that cheat days are the BEST plateau killers!

  • in terms of calorie counting this is a mystery but in terms of water retention view its not. When you cheat day a 6000 calorie day or something you in fact did gain fat weight that day but because your glycogen stores and stuff were over filled and the following days you go back on diet, it probably let you drop down a lot of water retention. So in terms of scale weight cheat days are useful for you to see the pounds go down.

I'm not sure if it was only water retention because most of my diet on my regular days is all carbs and I try to eat as much sodium as I can to help with water retention during my runs.
