Super fast eater

I am the world's fastest eater. I am always the first one done eating, and I feel I would probably feel full earlier if I'd just slow down. I've tried a few techniques that have helped a little, but I'm looking for more to try.

Here's a few pointers I've picked up thus far:
Use chopsticks
Put your utensils down between each bite

Any others you all can think of?

That is totally me as well. My brother made dinner the other night and I was the first one done by a landslide. We all had the same amount of food too. I do need to practice putting down the fork in between bites lol.

Chew each mouthful at least 30 times.

Me too! I've found that putting knife and fork down between bites works, think about what you're eating and just generally concentrate on what's in your mouth.

Take sips of water in between bites, focus on chewing slowly and a certain amount of time before you swallow. Take smaller bites and try to savor and really taste the flavor of what you're eating.

if you're eating with others tell a story. My mama taught me don't eat with my mouth full and we always talk around the dinner table so we can't eat while it's our turn to share or comment so dinner takes a longggg time. However, I don't live at home now so that doesn't work so well. But putting the fork down between bites works for me.

My guy is a super fast eater, too. I force him to talk with me during the meal.

also i did mindfulness therapy this fall and one practice we did was mindful eating - concentrating on the taste, texture, what your jaw is doing, what your tongue is doing, the feeling of swallowing the food, etc.

This is one of my biggest problems. I've gotten better. But sometimes when I start eating I sort've space out and the next thing I know I'm done. I've worked on finding ways to pause while I eat. I've noticed if I stop every so often and just let it sink in I'm more satisfied with the meal than if I just devour it all in one go.

Drink 16 ozs of water before sitting down to eat (or as much as you feel comfortable with ) AND sip water as you eat to help you feel full . For a week or so , try to avoid conversation while eating and concentrate on eating slowly . You want your planned meal to take 25 - 30 minutes to eat .Don,t load up your utinsle or chopsticks but take very small amounts at a time .

I eat so fast I barely chew my food. It helps to not put off eating until I'm really hungry. This doesn't happen often anymore, but yesterday it did, and I wiped out over 2000 calories in under ten minutes. Then I wondered why I had such an awful stomach ache!
