I have seen a couple different types from around the wrist to around the chest. Is there a better type? What brand would you NOT reccomend? Which ones would you reccomend? Im anxious and excited to start my journey but want to do it accurately!! Thank you in advance!!

Don't get one that just has the wrist (I.E. no heart beat sensor) they only estimate calories, they don't count heart rate and calculate true calories.

The ones with the chest strap (or the body bugg too) cost more, but they are sooooo worth it.

My heart rate monitor is a Polar f6 and I have a chest strap that I wear and then the watch. I love it! I can put the chest strap on first thing in the morning and wear it all day and it will still pick up signal (bc you have to wet it down). Mine keeps track of time, calories, and heart rate...I know they have a new one that you can add weight training in as well! I didn't know there were HRM that only went on your wrist... Anyway, the chest strap is comfortable and the HRM is very motivating! My battery in my chest strap actually recently died and I haven't been able to get a new one :(

I bought a MIO watch type one. I did not like it at all. For $100 I expected it to be more accurate. I would walke 4 miles and it would tell me I burned 27 calories. I would do 45 minutes of aerobics and it would tell me I burned 101 calories. I would do a 20 free step on Wii and it would tell me I burned 414. Made no sense at all. I took it back and got my money back. I decided I would research them a little better before I bought another. I am looking at the Polar 6 right now.
