I just got this body bugg yesterday and I've tried to set it up on both my phone and computer and it's not synching. it doesn't even make the audible tone it's supposed to make when it connects with my skin. I'm about five second away from returning it but I want to at least see how it works. I've heard sooooo many good things about it and figure it may be operator error. It pairs but won't connect to my cell, it is not registering any data on the computer, idk what I've done wrong. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP.

If it's not aware it's on body, then to save battery it won't turn the sensors on.
With no sensors, there is no data to send to computer or phone (BlueTooth option it sounds like?).

Skip the phone method until there is data to upload and seen through the computer method. Don't need to introduce another possible breakdown path.

The device is indeed seen by the computer, and the sync app does run automatically? Like during charging?

You do need a complete charge before using. And you may have to move those sensors around on your arm. It's like the 9 volt battery on the tongue, need some moisture as opposed to very dry.
So as test, just wet put some water on the sensors before you tighten it up. If that fixes it, I suppose you could find some HRM gel and use that.
That would be a bummer though. Hopefully it's just a matter of position on the arm. Might have someone else try it too, just to see if it registers on their arm, to confirm the unit is good.

Be aware of the warnings about some moisturizers and suntan lotion can ruin the plastic. Heard of that.
  • Thanks. I charged it completely before even putting it on. It said you are supposed to hear an audible tone when you put it on but I've never heard that tone. Going to take it in to the gym tomorrow and see if they can help me with it.

Don't get discouraged. I had an issue with mine when I first got it and called the tech help line and they were able to guide me through the set up - I do admit it was frustrating because I wanted to use it right away. Most recently, I changed my virus protection to Panda on my computer and that had an impact on the synching - so I have to disable it when I am loading the info into the program.

    Setting up is a hassle
Once set up it works like a charm
It takes a few minutes to register on your body
Once it does you will hear the sound
  • Update: so I got out set up and linked to my phone and still have no idea what is going on. This is much too complicated for me. I don't need anything but something to count my calories. I hadn't even done anything and it said I'd burned 818 calories. I feel like I need a class to understand exactly how this thing works. The videos they have are no help. Its going back

Did you ever get it to register and beep when you put it on your arm?

The calorie burn was estimated based on other figures you supplied, much as you can do on many sites for BMR.

If it can't register, I'd say return too, or else you'll probably always have that issue. Get a FitBit Ultra instead. Same principle, cheaper and easier to sync.
  • i have my body bugg if i dont do anything all day i still burn quite a bit the first day i had it i only had it from 5 to midnight and it said i burned 2401 but you have to understand you will always be burning even when you are sleeping i burn 1.4 calories a min. you will be surprised how much you burn and the body bugg is pretty accurate. they also have the first free coaching session the coach can help you set up your body bugg ^_^

You are burning calories all the time. This does not just measure exercise calories, but all the calories you burn.

Also remember that very few things that are worthwhile are easy at first. You have taken very little time so far to figure this out.

yeah that is confusing to me. I basically just wanted to calculate how much I'm burning during my workouts and I don't plan on omitting my caloric intake into the program. Thats what I use mfp for. So this thing isn't the device for me. I think the initial headache of getting it installed and working completely turned me off so it just went downhill from there.

The advantage of getting a total daily calorie burn is it tells you more or less exactly what you are burning in a day. Right now MFP is using a number from a chart that averages BMR based on sex, age, height and weight. The problem is even from that chart there is a range of number which MFP would select one specific one, probably near the middle. You may burn substantially more or less in a day and the body bugg would tell you what you burn. It also removes the guess work as to your activity level.
